What a bugger Andrew, always enjoy your posts...anyway keep an eye out for a Silver 150, QLD rego with a Prado Point stickers...can't imagine there will be too many of those out there at the same time so "maybe" we can catch up for a XXXX Gold (GO QUEENSLAND) along the way!!
I will certainly keep an eye out if we are late getting to Wiluna but will pass on the XXXX, nothing against Queensland and your beer but I dont drink at all!
Cheers Andrew

You'll be pleased to know I do drink both tea and coffee, so a cuppa instead would suffice.
Great to see some reports coming through, quite a few on Explore Oz as well (I did put a post over there also)....the early trippers seem to have had some fun in the mud, we hope to avoid that.
Anyway who knows....we'll be at Gunbarrell Laager night of 12th July and off to Well 2A the first day (the 13th)....anyway if delayed look out for us!!
PS: I'd have to agree on the XXXX, I tolerate it on long trips as it's cheap and in cans but usually my tastes are a little more refined!! However you do get very used to it living here!!

Geez, even the Wiluna locals wouldn't touch XXXX! VB or Emu Export is their beer of choice. Unless they have come across a carton of Jim Beam or Jacks.
BUT Basher I am a Queenslander!!
Would not be seen dead drinking "Green Death"...not sure I have had Emu Export, might give it a try when we are in Kalgoorlie for a couple of nights!!
And well past Bourbon or Rum & Coke (well I do still like it) but,
a) gives me a massive headache the next day
b) the bride refuses to sleep in the same tent as me if I do....Mmmm after almost 40 years of marraige maybe that's a good thing

I actually will drink XXXX - a legacy of my early years in the military in Enoggera. I drink Bundy to avoid (beer) headaches. We have all the beers in Kalgoorlie and you can drink 24/7. Just have to change pubs.

Bugger Bali, get out and see Australia before we sell it all to China.

Another great Queensland drop....Bundy & Coke!!
I actually do like this BUT I am banned...for two reasons,
1) The trouble and strife reckons I snore like a steam train if I drink it.
2) Once I start I can't stop and then the trouble really starts
So best to avoid if possible...these days a few beers and a few red wines are my go....my mispent youth on Bundy is many years ago!!

Make sure you have enough refreshments on board so you don't need to re-supply at the remote towns because you will either have to pay through the nose (up to double city prices for a carton) or, more importantly, you'll find yourself in places like Wiluna where alcohol sales restrictions are in place.

They've had some decent rain around the middle WA/NT border. Roads are closed but the sun was out today so hopefully they will re-open soon. CSR should have missed out.

I was in Wiluna on Thursday 23rd May, (travelling through from Meekatharra to Kalgoorlie). The roads were "Open - Proceed with caution". Travelled a number of dirt roads and all good. Some had small pools of water but of no concern.
We leave the pools of water there for the unwary traveller who breaks down.

Only 11 more days for me util I leave for the CSR.
4WDriver since 1975, current 4WD, 2009 GX diesel auto 150 series, fitted with ARB bullbar, snokel, dual batteries, rear draws, water tank, mud tyres, side steps, 50mm lift & roof bars. Tow a Olympic Champion XPack caravan, travelled a lot of Australia, past big trips in 150, August 2010 - Hay River Track NT, July 2011 - Kimberleys and WA, July 2013 - Canning Stock Route WA.
I leave for the CSR trip in about 8 days, but won't reach Wiluna until the 12th of July, we embark on the big trek the morning of the 13th July.
The only downside is I'll miss State of Origin 3, which may well be a decider.....BUGGER!!
Doing the final pack up this weekend, all the food bought last weekend and now just have to fit everything in!!
Oh well, after a Simmo trip in 2011 and a Cape trip in 2012 we are well versed in "remote area travel" so we do know what to pack and what to leave home...my wife wanted to pack an electric jug, yep useful for the few caravan parks we will stay in going to and from BUT about as useful as tits on a bull on the CSR.
Only one thing remains for me now....working out this bloody Go Pro Camera....I have it working, and linked to my I-Phone...now I just have to master actually taking some vision!!
Cheers all and would be great if I do at least see some one "on the track"

Hi Mark,
We are now in Kalgoorlie for 2 nights in preparation for the CSR. Will be re-stocking the food & grog & doing some sight-seeing. Lots of driving, fuel at $2.01 at Balladonia where Skylab crashed late 70's.
With the GoPro, we set it up initially on the I-Pad. Now control it from the remote. To conserve the battery, we have found that leaving the camera on stand-by will drain the battery in 3 hours. Therefore, it is necessary to turn the camera off when not used.
So, synchronize the remote with the camera first. Press and hold the red button, then briefly press the white button. Turn on the camera and go to Settings. Set to Wi-Fi remote. Turn on the Wi-Fi on the camera. The Blue light will flash on the camera. This will Sync the camera and remote. Check the on-line manual for details.
When you want to use the camera, press the white button on the remote. Wait until the selected (usually Video) symbol is displayed. Then press the Red button. The Red light will then flash on the camera. To stop recording, press the Red button again. This will stop the recording. Then Press the White button on the remote. This will turn off the camera & the Remote. Take short videos. Too boring if too long on one thing. Download to a computer every night and delete the card data. Have used about 2 GB per day, so a 32GB card is plenty as we download every day.
Thanks for the tips Jon, I had the I-Phone/I-Pad all synced up AND hadn't bothered with the Remote BUT will take your advice.
Tonight is my last night in Brisbane, we leave in the morning....sort of "meandering" our way across and won;t be on the CSR to the 13th of July.....have been watching the rain, assume it will be dry by the time we get there so not too worries.
Cheers mate enjoy, and if you do manage to post anything from along the way I'll pick it up myself in Kalgoorlie.
