    NSW: Wednesday Jan 26: Lidsdale State Forest

    We'll head out on Australia Day to Lidsdale State Forest & Marrangaroo National Park area just west of Lithgow on the Great Western Hwy. Tracks we'll be on today are easy to medium, there will be be some river crossings but standard vehicles will negotiate it OK.

    Meeting at: McDonalds at Richmond, cnr of March & Eastmarket Sts. at 8:30am, departing around 8:45 am http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en&bi ... CBoQnwIwAA
    Finishing time is flexible; if you want to leave early it won't be a problem. Usually we go till around 4 or 5pm (or later if someone gets severely stuck ).

    Bring: Prado, morning tea, lunch, camera, air compressor/recovery gear if you have it, sense of adventure :!:

    UHF channel 28 This is to avoid the interference from the mines in the area who use ch.16

      You'll be OK, besides if you do get stuck we can pull you out :mrgreen: Have been through there with bog standard vehicles before; never had a problem.

        Doesn't look like i'll be able to make it,down in Albury for work, although there's a small chance ill be back in town if the plane needs a service middle of next week.

                OK, just confirmed with Renee AKA Mrs Boomslang, we're ready to go. Looking forward to this. Still wandering about Mt walker, I don't want to break my truck (instructions from Renee) but after seeing the video from Glen_ep, I'm not to sure I can just let it go.....

                  OK Piet, we'll sit at the bottom of the hill & watch Renee drive up

                  That hill climb that Kenta & I did in Sunny Corner SF is pretty much the same as Mt Walker but twice as long, we both made it up without too much drama :!:

                      After watching these videos I'm not so sure anymore. I must say one thing about these Land Rover guys - THEY DON"T GIVE UP. I've got the rear locker but I think there is a case for the front as well.

                        Yes that first section of Mt Walker is very difficult & no way I'd try to climb it, very hard on your vehicle. The top section is easier, mcsumway (Warren) drove it no prob in his twin locked hilux when we were there last May; video here: (fast forward to 1:30)
