Guest repliedI think you are the 2nd PP member to ask. Happy to have a look if there were others interested? The person with the 150 that I measured up has now sold it and got a 90 series instead. So I'll have a donor 90 series to measure up. He may be the 3rd person.

Hi Andrew, I am not sure if you can have the bash plate for 90s? Im keen to get one set.

Sounds good Andrew. I'm no expert, so appreciate the information and guidance.
All the best,

Guest repliedMatt,
There are drainage holes along the bottom which can allow air to flow up and around the transfer case. With low range engaged, the speed of the car would be reasonably slow, so there won't be much forced air cooling in that circumstance. So I think a box would still be ok. More holes could be added to the sides near the front but not where the plastic actuator is.
On the other hand, some brands don't even have vents at the front bashplate to get airflow around the front diff.Last edited by amts; 20-02-2012, 05:51 PM.

Hi Andrew,
Are there any holes to aid convection cooling? I noticed a TJM version (I think) that looked like it had cooling fins instead of an enclosed box. I presume someone must think this thing gets real hot?

Guest repliedOf the few that I have fitted, the ARB plate goes on first, then my bashplate goes on. This may solve the problem of the large washer bending. Perhaps the slots on my bashplates are narrower than ARB's.Originally posted by winniliss View PostYes, the smaller ones. The bigger ones (silver in colour) were used for the two oval slots on the ARB radiator plate. The radiator plate had to bolt on last so that your bash plate would fit flush along the radiator mount. And just to keep sizes consistent I just re-used the other two old bolts for the other two holes. It's all good.
The nuts are a form of nutsert. They have a hex shank and so will/should never turn in its hole. They are fixed to the plate and Toyota shouldn't worry about losing any nuts.
I did forget to have a closer look at the access plates for the engine. When Toyota services the vehicle soon they won’t loose the nuts on the other side of the plate? I take it they are fixed to the plate?

Did you have HT flat washers in the fastener kit? Maybe I missed them but you shouldn't have the issues you mentioned. They are the yellow zinc plated jobbies.
I haven't had those issues and I've taken my bashplates off many times now. Happy to send you any replacement fasteners.

G'Day AMTS,
Finally got the opportunity to fit the bash plates. They look good and fit well except the grade of spring washers used. They seemed to be too soft of a material because as you tighten the bolt they started to spread. I also had to use the original bolts for the radiator cross member plus one old one from the transmission support strut. I found the two large washers supplied bent too much. The washers on the old bolts gave better support for the larger washers.
Otherwise job well done.Last edited by winniliss; 15-02-2012, 05:35 PM.

Mines different because
1. It was the first plate "Number 00001", gold plated Collectors edition as evidenced by the unique number, and
2. the absolute pounding they have received so they are no longer shiny black/gold, now more of a rustic silvery, gravel colour, and
3. The unique identifier has been scratched back so it cannot be read, or identified any longer making it look like an abused ordinary plate that everyone else gets.
Is my bonus plate ready yet? why am I waiting again? did you not learn anything from the first traumatic experience having to deal with my childish ways?
