Picked up the main bracket today and quickly put it together on the Prado. Some tweaks are needed on the main bracket to get some consistency. The light pole bracket will be slightly longer to match the tooling. The last thing is to work out the finish to hide all the tooling marks and it's done for the 120. The 95 and 150 door is slightly different and needs a different angle for the light pole bracket.

Looks great, keep up the good work Andrew, happy to wait a little longer.

Maybe drop the development of the 90 / 120 mount and work on the 150 mount a little more......

How about starting a "Pre order" list? ;-)

          Bernie.

The 2nd prototype has been tested and the pic of it is shown here. The holes aren't quite lining up so a tweak to the folding program is required. 3rd prototype should be done mid next week.

The 1st prototype has been given to the glass bead cleaning company and they will do a sample and provide pricing.

The pic shown is with the antenna tab on the light pole bracket. Unfortunately, it is too close to the tyre so this tab will be deleted on the final run.

                        Hey Andrew,

What's your current thinking with the "Poll / Lighting" situation with this kit? have it as an option maybe?

My feeling is that people may want to pick their own lights to fit, so it may be worth simply designing the poll mount / poll and extension capability with a simple "T piece" at the top on which 1 or 2 lights can be mounted. Leave lights and cabling to the purchaser...

Also, maybe it would be better to have a "pin" type lock for poll extension at various points (maybe square poll over tube poll in this case?) over the tent poll screw type...I can just see these possibly rattling loose over time (lost..) and just becoming a P.I.T.A. Maybe not, but worth thinking about.

My plan would be to mount 2 x Rigid Industry lights (Diffused) thinking these ones, http://www.rigidindustries.com/Duall...wo-p/20251.htm to the top at 45 degree angles..

Then I would have both a manual switch and a Wireless switch configured, not 100% sure where I would mount the wireless switch control but am thinking in small steel box welded to the base of the poll (with internal waterproof box) with the manual switch also flush mounted to this box. I think I have seen this before on other brands... the box will give me room to put other wiring goodies in there....

Anyway, just thinking out aloud. It's your show, just putting it out there for discussion.

Peace, love and all that crap.

                        best regards

                        Bernie.

Also, this would allow us to use a padlock if required to protect our purchase of lights.

Read above to understand what this all means, it will change your life.

                            Hi Bernie,

Yep, all good ideas. Just to clarify ...

The spacer and the light bracket are separate pieces and therefore available separately. I have posted suggestions on the telescopic pole (see post #21) and the curly cord (see post #23 and #50) to go inside the telescopic pole. There are also suggestions for the pipe clamp and the rubber (see post #53) that goes around the pipe clamp to provide grip and the clamp rattling loose on corrugations. So the pole won't be sliding down when in the retracted position. The telescopic pole has a junction that tightens around the top pole (see post #42) the more you tighten it. Unlike tent poles which you can only tighten so much.

I'm working on a T-piece to suit the diameter of the pole at the top to suit 1 or 2 lights. It will have a hole in the centre of the T part to fit a cable gland so that the cable can go through that and straight down the telescopic pole and join up with the curly cord inside.

I also have a bolt with a hole drilled through the middle that has been re-plated and heat treated to maintain the strength of the bolt. This bolt goes on the spacer bracket through the door.

So in summary, I can provide the following:
                            1. Spacer bracket
                            2. Light mount bracket
                            3. T-piece for the top of the pole to mount the light
                            4. Tank strap rubber to put around the pipe clamps
                            5. Bolt with hole in the middle to allow wire to pass through the rear door without drilling the door.

What you will need to get is:
                            1. Telescopic pole
                            2. curly cord
                            3. LED worklight
                            4. wiring
                            5. pipe clamps
                            6. cable glands
