Just had this issue happen this morning. The shifter from D to 4 was very stiff. Almost had to hit it to get it into position. Then all of a sudden the shifter became "floppy" and wouldn't stay in 4, could go to 3 and 2 but then wouldn't stay in L. A quick google search lead me here. After reading the instructions I went and took the console apart, the "Bullet" was nowhere to be found. So ordered the kit and hopefully it arrives quick and will solve my issue.

Kit arrived within a week after despatch (UK> EU). Fitted the kit on Saturday and it’s superb. Full selection options restored. The link to instructions was great. Very clear and reassuring. It’s a simple job but always something to be mindful of.
Having read comments on other forums, here’s a couple of installation tips to avoid any potential gotchas.
    1. Silver trim removal. Use a trim removal tool or a plastic tile grout spreader to get in the gap at the bottom of the trim and then lever off trim using an upward motion. I found it tricky to use the manual “squeeze and pull method” some videos show.
    2. white connector block. Be careful unplugging this. You can’t just pull it off. There’s a clip to push in on the block to release. If you want, you can unclip the connector block from its mount using a pair of needle nose pliers to give you a bit more room when unplugging the block.
    3. Make sure the white shift lock “thingy” is clipped properly back into its housing before you reassemble gate. If it’s not seated properly it’ll ping out!
    4. Test the operation of the gear selector movement before your put the console back together. Obvious, but worth noting.

thanks again. Such a satisfying fix. Really appreciated, Andrew.

Typical symptom of the pin about to pop out of the collar it's in. Once you force it, the shifter becomes floppy. The fix is to install the repair kit.
