        • Hey Wil. I installed my Lokka and took a few pics along the way albeit in a 90 series. I can post a few pics if you like. I used the instructions supplied by 4wd systems and from memory they were adequate. If I can find them I could scan and email them.
          Cheers, Ben.

I would be interested in a diy for a 120 also, what do people think of them?

I chickened out and paid someone to install mine so can't help with the DIY. Still love it, you do notice the better traction in the loose stuff - you just have to get used to the 'helpful' people telling you that there's something wrong with your CVs when you park it

Sorry, just noticed you have a manual - the 4WD Systems Lokka can only be fitted to an Auto, so it's not an option for you.

                    Why's that?

It's been discussed at length in this thread - essentially because the manufacturer says you can't and won't sell you one if he knows you have a manual.

                      • Just after an update on pros and cons of installing an autolocker in the rear. Is there excessive tirewear etc.

                        • Broke a few teeth off the old transfer box a couple of times when i had my rocky with rear locker, would power steer all the time too. Great for off road but a pain for normal road use. Will only ever fit ones you can dis-engage if i ever went that way again

                          • I have an auto locker or as crooza correctly says 'unlocker' in my 120 and I love it. I don't get excessive tyre wear at all and it unlocks reliably. The only possible complaint I would have about it is the number of people that come up to you in car parks and say 'there's something wrong with your car - might be a CV gone' because of the ticking noise you get when turning at low speed into parking bays.

I don't see how having an auto locker can cause scrubbing of the front tyres as you can only fit them in the rear of a Prado. By the way Winston and ratsack, I just noticed you both have manuals so you can't fit one anyway - they can only be fitted to auto Prados.

Not quite correct, you can't fit a Lokka in a manual but you can fit a Detroit. Perhaps the Detroit is the better option as to build quality/strength/reliability?

I have been toying with the idea of fitting either a Detroit or a Trutrac in the rear of mine. Still undecided..
