Recommend getting the Injectors checked by an expert.
Read the injector threads & you should learn a bit, search.
You could start with the link in my signature.

I need some help here please.
I have read some very interesting info on this issue regarding injectors and the problems that keep arising with the D4D.
after talking with Adam (ondaboat) I took my Prado 08 model 84000 ks to Toyota for the rattle on cold start
It was left there over night for the cold start test and I was told the following.
Checked at cold start and some rattle evident but not out of ordinary.
Plugged in scan tool and checked injector values - values as follows
No1 0.9
No2 minus 2.1
No3 4.2
No4 minus 3.5
Number 3 and No 4 out of value of minus 3 to plus 3.
Used car Dept approved to replace 2 injectors if client wants replaced.
Parts required 2 x injectors (hitech diesel) + 5 hours labour.
Following parts will be relaced ONLY if required
Rocker cover gasket x 1 (1121330021)
Rocker cover injector seals x2 (2368230020)
Rocker top seals x 2 (2368130010)
Gaskets x 5 (9090430013)
My question is should they only replace 2 injectors? Thanks in advance for the feed back,
Regards
Dave
How thing have changed in the last two years.
Dropped the Prado off last night for a service and the "mandatory cold start check of the injector values"
Just had call from the dealer advising two injectors are out of spec and Toyota reccomend changing all four injectors.
Then he mentioned that he would ask Toyota to contribute towards the cost ?
Thats when I said hey what about my extended factory warranty? Oh i will find out was his reply.
Next minute i was told all good Toyota will pay for all four to be replaced.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for putting this very important information on this site so people like myself have a good understanding how important it is to get the injectors checked .
Regards
Dave

That is a good result, for once.
But I would ask for the pipes to be replaced as well. Then check the SCV to make sure it is in spec.'04 120 Petrol Flinders Red GXL

hopefully they will follow suit & all do proper injectors tests rather than tell people it will be all ok. Now they just need new software for the egr system.
Yes very important information.
The big THANK YOU Should be directed to "##########" (diesel & toyota expert) he was the one banging on about it.
Others are just repeating what he has taught & that is needed, Jesus has left the building.
Many Years ago he contacted me & asked me to get on board, in his words, the people need us. He knew I was a good technician, I was reluctant to get involved with such a big problem, but eventually gave in, somebody has to do it & not many can get it right.
So since he got the boot from here, I have been sharing my experiences, helping the people......
Not many people out there specialising on Prado & Hilux 1kd motor & focusing on the big problems, then spending the time trying to share.
So I am!

Whereabouts in Sydney?
I've got a techstream if you wanted to grab the readings and send to ####.120 GXL D4D Auto, with a 'List of Wants' greater than the 'List of Needs' greater than the 'List of Haves'

Just a heads up.
Recent cold mornings in Sydney have made my D4D sound like a 2nd world war Russian tractor. Ran the techstream over it & injector #3 is showing -3.0mm3
All the others are looking good still & all look perfect when at operating temp. Injectors are roughly 1yr old/<15,000km. Baileys are taking it back for diagnosis in a couple of weeks.

Yet another set of Baileys that has an issue with the injector in pot 3!
Baileys know there is a problem, they're keeping a tally...
Perhaps Admins we should have a sticky on this titled 'Baileys Injectors issues' or 'Baileys Injector issue with Cylinder 3 after less than 12 months'.
Those with Baileys remanufactured injectors in their rigs, keep onto your injector feedback readings, make sure they're done at each service (minimum) - they don't take long to run out 2.9 or 3.0mm3...Cheers
Micheal.
