Hi everyone. My engine is up to 140k, the valve clearances were not done at the 120 or 130 service, I forget which. Anyway heading up north for an 8000k trip in June. I dropped into the dealer to get a price on a service, valve clearances and a timing belt while it's all apart.
Concerning the valve clearances, "We just listen to them" he says, if it sounds alright we just leave it. I ask about shims wearing and valve recession, and the service manager says they don't wear, if it's not noisy then don't worry about it.
I asked if I could have that in writing, with a smirk, he smirks back and says no.
So what do you reckon, any mechanics have an opinion if he is right or not?
