There could be issues with welding the plates in. The standard fender needs the strength but also needs a little bit of flex to prevent cracking. That's probably why the Japs went for a bolt in solution. Something to discuss with the panel beater I guess.

i accidentally got some air time in mine and upon landing, the bullbar ate the dirt first and i think as the bullbar and chassis came up, it bent my left inner fender apron. lucky thing for me is i'm studying auto body repair at tafe so we're trying to pull it straight again.
to the point now, im looking at adding these reinforcements for strength but amayama is still missing one of the parts. who knows where to get the final piece?[B]CANYONEROOOOO *whipping in the distance*

To be honest you could probably easily replicate the piece by simply using some L shaped bar: 65cm long with a slight bend at about 2/3 the way along. The stuff they suppy is flimsy as.Dave

I recently repaired a customers Prado that had cracked inner skirts. I made up my own reinforcing panels and welded them on. I'm not sure that just welding on some extra panels is really the best way to go though, I think they'll just end up cracking elsewhere. Be better to replace the whole skirt but that'd be expensive!
These cracks seem to develop from fatigue, constant rough road travel. I've seen the radiator support cracked off as well.Can't we just keep travelling?

I stuffed up. The part that Amayama didn't/couldn't supply is the curved under fender piece. That would be hard to knock up and it's a little stronger than the L shaped panels that go on the top of the frame on the inner fender.Dave

Thinking if it was cracked too much, get the replacement apron, reinforcement plates go on the new apron, new apron with reinforcement goes on, you get a whole new front end free of cracks. I don't know, Was just a thought but yeah you're right. If only we live in a world without money..[B]CANYONEROOOOO *whipping in the distance*

My mate has an early 150. Both sides cracked and he has had them welded up and so far all going good after a year or so. A good panel beater could easily fabricate some basic plates and reinforce across the cracked area.Dave
