I believe some 150s have this problem too. People are hoping that Toyota realised the problem and fixed it in the updated 150s

I took this photo of a 150 series at a Pickles auction in Perth July last year. Both sides the same.

Do you know if it was a facelift model 150 or pre facelift?

By the looks of the inner guard I would say it is a pre facelift 150, looks the same as mine (cracks included) and it is a pre facelift model

Customers vehicle. They say it has been like that long time & not worried.
Going to roll with it. Good r&d situation, I will watch & monitor to see if it goes further.
No point overreacting about some little cracks right? Lets see.....
I must say they are always about the same, I'm not sure it would go further, especially if it was managed.

Well I think I might have some good news and might have finally gotten somewhere with this. While I was at Toyota last week trying to get this 02 sensor issue diagnosed I mentioned this cracking problem and the issue with getting the parts and they mentioned they had a parts guy who was good with imports and tricky parts. It turns out the missing part,53731-60070 is dis-continued......but has been replaced by 53731-60071. These parts are available from Amayama (which is where I just ordered them for a total of $210) or from Melville Toyota for a total of $390.

From my research the kit fits both the V6 and D4D so fingers crossed we're onto something.

Yes, but as I discovered, there could be more cracking at the rear end of the apron where the inner fenders join the main body just down from the windshield/firewall area that you can't see until you remove the guards.

Just to add to the confusion, some facelift models (the very early ones) were single skinned like the pre-facelift inner guards.

Yeah I found that with the one I repaired a couple of months ago. Cracks where it's spot welded to the front door pillar.

Got the new right under side reinforcement panel so time to put them in. Left side already done. Good news, no cracks in right side. Usual build-up of twigs and mud -could tell a tale about where this Prado has been.

Had to remove airbox and battery tray, guard, washer bottle and a few other bits.

                          Top panel in. Stainless bolts.

Bottom panel in. A little bit fiddly and had to use a knockameter to pursuade it a bit. One of the holes wasn't big enough.

Bit of rust rid paint and a coating of textured deadener and time to put it all back together. Might just have a beer first.
