  • Re: TYRE MUSTER

My experience with ST's was pretty lousy
Took a 70 series set 5000 klm old out to the Flinders for two weeks and absolutely tore them to pieces, lugs missing, miles of chipping and all 4 damaged beyond reasonable
Contacted Coopers who swapped them out for a set of STCs which are now over 30000 klm old and have been excellent, very minimal wear and still looking in tip top shape
Noise wise they are a bit ordinary, maybe a touch quieter than ST's
My guess is that they will do 60000 klm easy

if there is a place where cut resistant tires are needed it;s the northern Flinders/Gammon Ranges!

How much are the ST's and ST-C's?

      Sig035......they look fantastic BTW

Paid $365 each, which was about the norm.... and they threw in a wheel allignment.

Ment to mention..... picked up another 2.5cm height as well...... which means I can only get the Prado in the garage now if I have more than half full tanks

Maybe you picked up 12mm or 13mm in overall vehicle height ?

          265/65/17 = 769.5mm
          265/70/17 = 796 mm

....Yep agreed.....Plus the 60,000klm wear on the ATR's.....about another 10mm

Geez...running a bit tight there

Not a bad price with a wheel alignment. They do look the goods but you have only corrupted my indecisive decision making for some footprints :!: :!: I am interested in the ST-C's for their cut resistance but could but the STT's or MTZ's. Could have less road noise with these.....oh geez :!: What to do :?

Tyres: Yokohama Geolander ATS GO12 265/65/R17

Terrain: Bitumen so far...intended for Fraser Island

K's 1000! Just upgraded from the Grand Craps (I hope!!!!!)

Impression: So far So good. Stable, good tracking straight/corners, reasonably quiet although very slightly noisier than grand craps, good on loose gravel, eagerly waiting to try sand!

Good Points: Sexy tread pattern, good LT side wall construction, plenty of tread for an AT

Thoughts of replacements: hopefully not for a long time yet!!

                • I'm with Brad. Bought my Geolanders only two weeks ago, so i don't have any playtime with them under my belt yet :P I know some people who have them and they are very happy with the performance. The word of mouth, the price and the warranty are all good points as well

                    Kilometres :
                    Current : 3,500
                    Previous : 80,000 +

Impressions: I've never got less than 80,000k out of the Grantreks and found them to be exeptional for on-road use and light off-road use. The reverse applies to the BFG AT's. Good off-road with less perforance on-road ( as expected )

Impressions: When brand new in the wet well lets just say thanks for All Wheel Drive, After id scrubbed them up a bit much much better. Great traction tyre in mud and stable with low pressures. I do lower them every chance i get to go with terrain, no chipping, no cracks, no lost or cut lugs, no punctures either. They get rotated every service and still look in great condition, look good on the rim too.

Next Set: Will stick with them!!!!

I had the same tyres on my Prado ,good solid tyres no punctures lasted years . I had the pressures at 35/36 though . must be hard as with 40+ in them.

                          • Hi Raydes,

Unloaded in the rear i do feel it but the rears set up stiff to tow with and its always got a bit of weight in the rear- Fridge, Tools, Etc.
                            Front seems good though.
I must have to admit with a lot of the guys i get out with following the BF, Copper and Micky band wagon i have nothing to complain about with these tyres, i don't expect to get high kms out of them and at the end of the day its a big car that tows and being used as it should be.
Good solid tyre and im happy.

                            Thanks, Trav.

                              • Just changed over from Pirelli Scorpion ATR's which were great on the road, in the sand and off road, except for in the mud! So now we have D697's which are more aggressive but not as aggressive as BFG's which my wife vetoed.

                                Tyres: Bridgestone D697's 265/65/R17

                                Previous: Pirelli Scorpion 265/65/R17

Terrain: 95% Road which will change after the GTG!

                                Km's: 1,000 so far

                                Current Tread: NEW

                                Pressure: 40psi
                                Cheers, Brad
