Yes, it did manual regeneration but only when car is parked. I've tried it while driving but it gave me middle finger (long number) . However, when parked and sent the command again, message displayed on car info display .. need make sure no flammable object under the car..blabla. and rev went up. Took about 10 min to complete.

PM Sent (I think -it'd be my first too).Originally posted by Rimsy View Post
Hi CamJam,
Tried sending you a PM but of course it's not working (must be a Toyota DPF).
For $68K drive away did the Patrol Ti come with any accessories like a tow bar or anything?
Can I also ask what state you purchased it in?
Cheers, Rimsy.

G'day Brogers. The requirement for petrol narrowed the search considerably - Y62 Patrol V8, LC200 V8... and that's about it. If I didn't need the 6th/7th seat - then I would have looked at Jeeps as well. I was purposely steering clear of naming the car/ hijacking as this is a Prado forum. But since you asked so nicely
;
For $68K drive away I got a Patrol Ti. That's only a little bit more than the price I paid for the Prado - but it comes with leather (I hate leather, it's got sheepskin on now
), DVD, Satnav with free updates, sunroof, 33" tyres, a V8... you get the picture. It's got a lot. It's a very similar spec to the LC200VX I owned before the Prado (went Prado as it's got a payload of 780-odd Kg's versus my LC200 at 610Kgs - Patrol has 785Kg). More importantly (for me) is what it doesn't have - DPF, Turbo, EGR, AdBlue etc. Just 8 cylinders putting out 298Kw and 560Nm.

Have any of the 1GD owners on here tried a DPF cleaner additive that goes in the fuel tank? Do they work?

Toyota dont work like that - they would rather wait till warranty runs out then point the finger at the owner's driving style.Originally posted by rpn View Post
I'm surprised Toyota don't change the service schedule to include a clean of the DPF injector every xx thousand km if that is part of the problem.

Let's hope so. I think this will certainly be an ongoing issue, and I would be surprised if the ECU upgrade fixes it -especially the blocking of the injection port side of the issue. The 2.8s are now coming out of warranty in large numbers, so i guess well see some test cases soon.

The answer was that the DPF is a know issue and Toyota would take care of it even after the warranty expires. No I didn get that I in writing but I’m not really concerned because my argument would be that the DPF failed within the warranty period and Toyota are obliged the see it fixed properly no matter how long that takes.

A lot of palava, but there could easily be a group action over this.

good find. yes its relevant , but i wouldnt be touching anything while under warranty. Its Toyotas problem first and foremost , they have to fixit.

Not sure if anyone has seen this and how relevant it is (I'm still driving a 90 series), but it shows how to clean the 5th injector. I guess warranty would be an issue for a lot of owners.

I have driven in city traffic many times (2018 Prado), tops 40Km/hr, during a complete DPF burn.Originally posted by orangepeel View PostHa, I had a Toyota tech try and advise me that the DPF won’t burn until over 60km/hr.
If this was true, how come there aren’t more Town Prado parked up on the curb with issues?
Ive seen a burn happen whilst driving around town, well under the 60km/hr limit so clearly the Toyota techs don’t know what they are pushing down the throat of some customers.
They would have a story to try and sell to the customers to look like the problem is the caused from customer driving habits, and not a design flaw
And recently drove a track at 25-30Km/hr in 4Lo when a DPF Burn occured. It took 8Km to complete.

My local service guy is pretty good, and as frustrated as we are at how Toyota are handling this and what info they are sharing. When I took my car in for the latest ECU upgrade, I noticed the form said 2 regens had been run, and I asked why. His response was:Originally posted by Faulco View PostJohn the first time they did a forced regen and put some “cleaner” through the DPF. The second time they didn’t exactly say but it was in and out in less than 3 hours (I elected to wait because of the distance to home).
"Two is standard practice, the first one is a manual regeneration with cleaner, and the second is an forced auto regeneration to simulate on-road driving and the second one is where we measure the difference in temperature sensors to judge the condition of the catalyst. If it’s different by +/- 20 degrees, that one goes in the bin and it gets a new one put on. If it’s clogged, we do another two, one to clean and another one to judge the condition after a second clean."
