I've 2018 model and no issues so far but only 7k done. However, Hilux is the most selling vehicle and Prado on top for the large SUV. https://www.caradvice.com.au/672896/...vehicle-sales/ . So go figure...

Does anyone know what is DPF Assembly? Is DPF part of the Assembly or a separate part? Thanks
If 2018 model doesn't have the issue I'll probably have to get one.2018 150 Series Crystal Pearl Prado VX 2.8l. 2 inch King springs and Bilstein shocks, Airtek TJM snorkel.

Don't know if anyone has an idea of the new ecu update. Mine was reflashed last week. After that I have put more than 500km on it and got no burns at all. Brought it back to the dealer and they said it supposes to be like that for the new update. They have no clue how long it is going to be between burns now. What should I do? Just wait for another 500km or one of the light goes on?

If anyone is interested here is a graph of the soot % recalculation from my not updated yet Prado.
It had covered 160 Km's since the last regeneration and you can see the % coming down fro 78% to 42% without any DPF rise in temperature or as far as I can see any other parameters changed.
Please ask if you would like to see graphs of any other parameters that may be relevant.

As the DPF saturation declines to around 40% I'm seeing low-mid 500C temps. Once DPF drops below 40% I'm seeing the temps rise to 600-700C.
I have now clocked 20,000Km in my 2018 GXL. and driven a few desert/mountain tracks in that.
Averaging about 350Kms between burns.
The quickest burns (6-8 Kms) have been during slow or low range driving/crawling.
Around the city its taking around 22Kms (including parking in-between), and on the highway 70-80Kms @ 100-110Km/hr.
Had a heart stopping drive on a highway when it took just 100Km to get from 0% to 100% (it jumped from 2% to 52% in 15Kms), then took 132 Kms to complete the next burn.
But all returned to normal after that.

Hopefully this forces Toyota to do a correct recall but to also work out how to get the system to work if possible.

I have filled in the contact form on the above website but I am not sure how many people will bother. I am amazed at how loyal some Toyota customers appear to be. There is a post on another forum from an owner who has had two DPF changes and now needs a turbo. He reports how well Toyota have treated him and says that his turbo "should now be good for another 100,000 Kms"
I would think that it is reasonable to expect a DPF and a turbo to last much longer than this????

My 2016 VX had the ECU update/recall earlier this week and I find that the DPF now goes from 0%-100% very quickly. Tonight for instance, I drove 10km and it went up10% from 38%-48% and yesterday when I drove 15km, it went up 16%. I also find the fuel consumption has jumped up quite significantly, but I haven't done enough kms after the changes to really say this for sure. Does anyone else experience the same things after the update? P.S. I put my name down on the Bannister Las Class action as well.

Hi 2016VX,
I've got similar sitituation here, 2018 VX, had ECU update/recall three weeks ago, as the technical staff said, that update/recall was all about DPF burns, "it will burn more often, and will finish a burn more quickly". While I haven't noticed any increasing fuel consumption yet, probably due to highway driving, but the regeneration was finished REALLY quickly, I felt like those burns were done within 5-8 minutes (that was 20-40 mins before update). In term of frequency, I will keep eyes on the burns km wise, and then post results shortly.2018 Prado 150 VX ARB Summit Bullbar ARB Recovery Points Toyota Towbar Rhino Backbone Pioneer Platform Provent Catch Can Dual Battery Blacksys CH-200 and more to go

Could I ask 2016VX if he means that his % rises quickly to 100 then starts a regeneration without the "recalculation" that I have shown the graphs for above?
I think that the reported faster and presumably hotter burn must be a good thing but I am not so sure about more frequent burns? A Fortuner owner who's vehicle has had the update some time ago has said that when under heavier load like towing his % is maintained as the temperature increases enough to delay the increase in % soot, in other words passive regeneration at least to some degree.
My late 2015 GXL will be having it's final capped service in a couple of weeks, I will make some recordings before and after the update under varying conditions.
