Yes, the speed readout would be interesting

Not in HD, but this is the only footage I could find of the Dash 8 find at short notice:

Depends on your compression - according to the manual at normal compression: Full HD, 30Fps, 4hrs 37 mins, at high compression, full HD: 7 hr 02 min

Theres a link to the English manual here. Recording times are on page 41: http://www.slideshare.net/dashcamtal...fi-user-manual

I copied SteveM's install (mostly) Let me know if you want some photos, not sure if yours is the same. Mine's a 120.? Run cable along roof lining, down behind drivers pillar trim (two bolts to remove it), pass cable through gap into footwell (unlike SteveM I didn't remove the footwell trim, I found if I doubled the cable over I could thread it through the gap and then pulled the cig adaptor through. ) I ran it behind the trim to the power outlet, and just cable tied the excess and hid it behind the drivers kick panel.
At some point I'll run it to the aux battery for permanent power so I've left the final section exposed - Steve ran his behind the trim.

                        r4ndll,

if you could post those pics of the install that would be great.

                        • Would I be right in guessing the power lead is a standard 'small' USB connector and that you can plug the Blackvue directly into a PC with a USB lead? The reason I ask is that is what my current dashcam power supply is like. I have modified the one from my existing dashcam so that it is directly wired into power in my roof console - it's currently connected to the switched main battery power but all I have to do is move one wire and it will be connected to the permanent aux battery power. This will make installation even easier than I thought

                          • Oh well, it was worth a try. That raises another question though - I thought you were able to connect it to a PC and use the software they provide on the PC - is this not the case?

Another question, can you download the video through the WiFi or do you have to unplug the memory card and copy it direct from there (like I do on my existing one)?

Steve, did you just use any 32gb card or do you need to grab a Pittasoft one with the program etc on it?

                              cheers

You can't connect the camera directly to the PC. You use the microSD card. The software automatically points to the card location when connected but you can change the location if you want eg you've downloaded the files to another location.

You can connect via wifi, but it seems rather slow. Not sure what the range is either.
                                1. Connect to the Blackvue WiFi network.
                                2. Type "ftp://191.168.8.1/Blackvue/Record/" into your browser (It is ftp: not http You will see all the files there.

Apparently http://192.168.8.1/blackvue_live.cgi will give you the live feed, but I haven't tried it.
