  • snorkel quality 90 series petrol

I'm hoping that someone can shed some light on my question.
I'm looking at a snorkel for my 90 series petrol, 5vz-fe. There are plenty of options equaling plenty of price difference.
Has anyone bought and fitted one of the cheaper ebay snorkels? I've read a number of posts from some who have fitted a snorkel to this model, and they have been most helpful with pics.
I am curious which ones have been fitted.
    Thanks.

Thanks for that. The price I received was a bit dearer, but was wondering if anyone had put in an ebay $100 job.

Can't help you with any snorkels hope you don't mind me crashing your thread has anyone one done this to a 90 series.

I was thinking about doing something similar everything else plastic I buy doesn't last. If anyone has any pics I'd be interested in a look also how to to get the pipe into the airbox.
I got myself some Big Horn Maxxis and was telling my landrover lover mate he said what size did you get I told him 265/75/16 he said I didn't know they came that small.

I think good plastic lasts. The weight of S/S would be alot more and would need a lot more support

I think the main difference between the expensive (Safari) and the cheaper snorkles on eBay is the grade and thickness of the plastic moulding.

I was going to fit one to my 3.4Ltr Prado, but scrapped the idea for now.

Just question the fitting guides in the item listing, and check the sellers feedback, to see if any buyers had any drama's with the templates.

You still need a 80mm hole saw i think and some other tools to fit them.

I suppose if they warrant the item for 12 months or more, they can't be that bad.

This one has a 2 year warranty http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TOYOTA-SN...sAAOSwZQRYY0BE

Thx Corey, I sort of had a similar thought.
I'd looked at the feedback and it's was quite good for the one I looked at. 2 yrs warranty etc.
I definitely would be checking the template first up.
If I go this way I'll let you know how I go.

I get a little nervous when the listing is not 100% correct.
That one you posted says" Easy Installation: Drilling template all necessary hardware are included", then 2 lines down say's "The instruction is not included, professional installation is highly recommended".
                  Makes you wonder a bit....

                    True.
I figured that "if" the template is ok or at least able to be made correct, the fitting instructions are the same for that one as ARB or Tjm etc.
There is an excellent post with photos and instructions, it was very well done by a fellow pradopoint member.

What is your drive to want a snorkle?
To run cooler air, or for water crossings?

I have a mate who had a GQ Patrol bought 2nd hand which came with a cheap plastic snorkel fitted. It had been there for quite a while and was spongy when pressed due to the very thin cheap plastic. It was also difficult to properly water proof when we re-did the waterproofing of it. I'd stay away from the really cheap options here and pay for a decent make considering the nature of what it's designed to do. Keep in mind when driving on narrow bush tracks the snorkel will get bumps and scrapes from overgrown vegetation. A brand name snorkel will put up with this treatment in its stride.

                            Both.
Cool air definitely. And the water crossing is a safe guard, I, was away at Christmas time and went closish to being a bit deep. No problems but I just want to make sure for any other crossings.
