    G,day Fellas !!

Well guess who back in Town .......... Obviously Pradofreak ! sighted Just thought I run down to the Pub with another Yarn but hell cant avoid raising the D4D in a 90 series Topic

well its now been what just over 2 years since I did the D4D modification into the 90 series and gotta say still have a grin from ear to ear till a about 6 months ago I started having some serious lost of power and Gradually got Worst when I was coming from from Tassie to Sydney - During the entire return trip I try to figure out the possible issues such as fuel filter , injectors , fuel pumps and so on after thinking of many of the logic possibilities I started running out of options and took my car sheepishly to the Mechanic , Great News The mechanic could,nt work it out so of to Toyota......... more GREAT news they say WOW this is impressive mod but Could,nt work out why I had power loss , this started to get frustrating , I want my POWER I love the amazing take off and boost etc well Great news I found the Problem - Its hilarious , The problem was with the Accerlator , as I put a 120 series accelerator in , it required to be screw into the firewall panel anyway one of the screws at the base has made its way loose which was preventing the accerlator to achieve full travel , Why didnt I see that in the first place sighted !! anyway Now I,m happy as ...mmmmm Dunno I,m happy Happy since I fixed the accelerator Mount There seems more power than ever ( I accidentially did a 4 wheel drift with plenty of power to play with ) Oh I should say Yeah it was WET (Guess that was kinda cheating lol ) wink wink

The fuel consumption is still giving a fantastic results on averaging 9.3 Litres per 100k,s city driving , the best I had on Highway driving was 8.9 Litres / 100 Ks

If anyone wants to join the 90 series D4D club just drop a line can do my best with advice and so on !!

Keep it up and have a Good Weekender

Re: Help Help I need information about D4D into 90 series prado

Great news pradofreak, I just got mine back yesterday from having a blown head, was $$ 3586, if mine ever goes bang I reckon the d4d would be the way to go. Not sure with myn been a grande (01 T/D grande 90 series) with traction control, stability control and abs wether this would be an issue with any of it. Would be a fantastic conversion, plus mine is auto, not sure wether my box would bolt up to the d4d or not ?? Glad to hear your still getting it around and you solved the powerless problem simple as a screw. Regards Steve

Amazing write up for the swap. You made it sound pretty easy!
I'm in the process of buying a 1999 2 Door 90 prado with a blown 1KZ-TE and have the exact same options so this thread was a savior! Guess will go with the D4D conversion as well but still have to check the availability of engines here in Egypt. If I made up my mind and settled for the 1KD-FTV will need a lot of your help concerning the wiring! 8)

Congrats for the swap and cheers from Cairo

Thanks for opening an old thread Issa.

I would love to put a D4-D in my FJ Cruiser, but now with the FJ coming out in OZ I'm sure someone will do it shortly. I may shop for an engine and have it shipped up here with the Troopy sometime next month.

On the other hand with all the off-road events I'm going to with the MAXTRAX FJ I should probably pick up a used FJ for the swap because a Frankenstein-vehicle isn't good for expedition travel.

            Only time will tell.

            Cheers,

Re: Help Help I need information about D4D into 90 series prado

It's an interesting thread that'll keep going as long as the KZ are dying!

I found a d4d that came out from an Australian prado but doesn't have it's electric harness so I guess this is the problem plus the 90 is European specs ? Also my mechanic is not recommending the 1KD for the bad diesel we get here in Egypt and the expensive spare parts compared to the KZ.

If I decided to get this 1KD without the electric harness can I use a Hilux one?

@flyNdrive: Can't wait to see a diesel in a FJ...although it should have came with a diesel from the factory in the first place!

              Cheers

Not to revive the thread but Is it possible to convert the 3.4L V6 engine to a 1KD-FTV?

Pradofreak we need to revive this thread! I sent you a couple of PM's, but it's better to keep everything on the thread so everyone can benefit.

I still didn't do anything with my Prado due to the situation here in Egypt for the last year, but keeping my eyes open for available engines in the market.

Anyone joined the D4D club ?

                    Latest Disciple

Hey there Pradofreak I just came accrossyour swap story which has been the Holy Grail for me.
I am very interested in what you have done and request you to email me all possible details.

                    [email protected]

                    Brief history

                    KZJ78 with a 1KZ-TE and manual tranny.
Engine Mods: added intercooler, changed DMF to SMF
the rest: Monroe shocks, Robs coils, permanently engaged electric hubs, retrofitted rear elocker (changed ratio to 41:10)
front aussie locker, separate set of maxxis bighorn MT's, B.I.T snorkel, TJM front bullbar, 11000lbs Tmax winch,
heavy duty rear tow hook (for landies)

I had wanted to chip it but every chip company just wanted to add fueling which didn't need $1000

So pradofreak goes out and does the very thing i have been dreaming of.

                    I'm crossing my fingers that
                    a) you are still enjoying the power of the 1kd with now issues,
                    b) your computers have not suffered upgrade amnesia and you still have your info and pictures.
                    c) your bucket list includes coming to Kenya to witness the wildebeest migration coz there will be a wilder beast waiting to haul you thereClick image for larger version

I know this is an old thread, did anyone get a wiring diagram from Pradofreak? Have all the bits for the conversion and need to start on the wiring. Trying to save on banging my head against the wall figuring it all out, Cheers

I tried contacting him a few times but hes long gone , i was destined to common rail my v6 had a motor but was too stuffed canned it and found a 1kz auto box ecu wiring from a 120
Theres not much difference in fitting the 1kz/1kd
I got the complete 120 body harness and picked all the engine and gear box related stuff out
You WILL need the immobilizer and key from the engine
The 120 keys are the same as 90s so i had 2 120 keys cut them programmed to the new immobilizer
I ghink I stopped looking for the diagrams
What car is the engine from?

Its from a hilux, 2007 model from memory. I have access to all the sensors and stuff. I have only got out the ecu and immobiliser but will go back and get the key. Being the manual to a manual 90 it should make it a little easier. Ive done conversions before and had to work out the wiring, hence why I wanted to save the heartache and be lazy and copy someone elses

You will need the engine brackets and mountsfrom a 90 diesel prado the hilux ones are different
Being manual it will be a shitload easier
Youl need the key reader ring that goes around the barrel pretty easy to modify and make work and look totally factory
Do you have a diesel to start with? If so most of the parts stay there
being both EFI i used the all the std V6 relays to do what they originally did
The hilux wiring diagrams were an absolute bitch to find
Did you already getbthe imob ECU? There in a shit of a spot in the hiluxes
