The best laid plans are best broken... oh boy, we sure broke our plan to traverse between Neurum Creek and Charlie Moreland. After two days of side-tracking we just ran out of time. Though this is good news for the GTG. We now have a selection of new and exciting trails to explore.

To view our GPS log with profile and statisitcis, take a look at: http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=1158223 When you hover over the map, a few icons show up on the bottom of the map. Play around with them. I especially enjoyed the "Playback" button with the profile in view, as it speeds you through the track log and profile together.

For iOS users, you can see the track log, but it seems you need to download the free "EveryTrail" app to get access to all the overlaid features (statistics and images).

    Cheers,
    LFaR.

        Ahem,

To our shame we did get "side-tracked" a little bit - we missed a turn and ended up in the creek loop again at one point. The only virtue there was that we knew what we were in for this time!

It will truly be a great GTG, there'll be something for everyone.

        Cheers,

        Dave

To be fair, the maps showed a track that just didn't exist, which meant we were still searching for a way through to Charlie Moreland's. Without the magic word to open a hole through the mountain, we could only press on. Eventually, this led us to a precarious and steep descent into Kilcoy. Several sections of the track were heavily rutted and undercut. If it gets any worse, they will surely have to close it. Not to worry, there are other options if that happens.

On the plus side, we didn't need your shovel for more track repairs, as we did the day before .

Our Fozzy was only crew member without upgraded suspension and believe me when I say "that didn't stop him".
But in fairness it isn't such a bad thing because knowing this ensures that the trip planning we've done so far shows that a standard vehicle is capable across everything we've covered so far.

Although, he does have those STT's on board too, and they would help a fair bit when grip is essential.

Perhaps we can start a new thread "Save Fozzy's Bash Plates, sponsor him a 2inch lift" ?

I'm very much looking forward to seeing some more pics and video that come out of the weekend.

More Reccy's I say, and roll on the October 2011GTG.

            cheers

Here's some more shots from the drive on Saturday.

A low fog hangs over the campcround at Neurum Creek Bush Retreat

First sidetrack takes uo down into lush rainforest.

... and then up some slippery track

Soon after some track building was needed to avoid contact with a fallen log.
                Cheers, Leon

LFaR avoids the track building all together.

... and Richo goes straight for it.

A steep climb and rutted track proved a challenge for McBains non-lifted and running AT's Playdo but not impossible.
A bit of track building and the right line and he was up with no damage.

Lastly, the complete crew line up.

James took a bit of video footage and some shots as well so I'll see if I can get a hold of that too.
                      Cheers, Leon

Hey Matt, how did you get on with getting your Foxwing repaired after the day on Stockton Beach at last years GTG?
                        Dobbo.

it didn't want to go up that bit! i think it was more the line than anything, the AT's just spun in the lose dirt. (I am lifted though)

time for me to do some photo scanning and uploading.

                          good action shot that one

reminds me a bit of the last action shot you took of my car trying to get up a similar surface (but far longer and more rutted) hill at landcruiser park many years and fewer mods ago!

Ah, sorry 'bout the not lifted bit... hard to keep up these days

The line... and the cross axle spin, maybe it's time for a locker

For you more hardcore people coming the track here is one of the yellow tracks at LCMP (Landcruiser Mountain Park)
The tracks there rate as green, yellow or red so there should be something there to test your skills if that's what you're after.

                                Hi Leon,

I haven't been to LC park for 20yrs.
Are the green tracks OK for stock 150's, no damage?
(I seem to recall one of the simpler tracks back then, had a water crossing bonnet high.)
