Thats a really good price, I bought GXL 3.0 end of oct for 58,200 at the time they didnt want to reduce the price on 2.8 below $67000. Feel like I should have waited for another month.

Verdict - front cabin too dark (claustrophobic) and seating position only just acceptable for my size. Then we jumped into the back seat...What a joke! What a load of rubbish!! I'm 6'1" (185cm) and my son is a bit taller. Our heads where up in the dished roof lining, brushing the roof. The top of the window glass was just above our eyeline and the raised door hip and raking 'c' pillar restricted our view of the outside. We jumped out of the Fortuner into a Prado, test drove it and bought it!! This is what I got.
Prado GX 2.8 diesel auto. White. tow bar, cloth front seat covers, bonnet protector, headlight protectors, all rubber mats (5) and a full tank.
$55,500 drive away from Marissa at Sydney City Toyota, Waterloo. 10 day wait.
I've had it for a month and I love / hate it!! Compared to the 2012 CVT Xtrail I've just stepped out of, the Prado is a big, fat, wallowing, slug of a truck! The problem is the Xtrail wont get me over Big Red or through Nolan's Brook, 2 of the many trips I have planned for the future. As far as the Everest goes, I didn't bother because it is an unproven Ford with toooo much electronics (and they catch fire). See you in the bush, beyond Xtrail limits.

    Hello BraMAN,

Great deal and very well done.
A couple of things that I experienced with my Prado, that might allay your concerns.
    1. The diesel engine should definitely loosen up a bit after it gets "run in" somewhat. I definitely noticed that with my Prado, but it took around 15,000 km from memory.
    2. Stock suspension is definitely soft and "wallowy" and of course it wont get better as it ages. I changed out my suspension after about 50,000km and installed a 40mm lift with Dobinson springs and shocks, and it was easily the best modification I did...far better in every respect.
    3. I got BFGoodrich AT Light Truck construction 265/65/17 tyres after about 100,000km, and this was a huge difference as well.
I recon once you change tyres and install a 40mm lift with some dedicated springs/shocks you will "love" the Prado

    IMO,

    Great deal though.

Picking up my new Silver Pearl 2.8L GXL Demo Today, $60490 on road with tow bar fitted, rubber mats, rubber boot mat, full tank of fuel, otherwise standard. 4000Km. New price best haggle I got in SA from 2 dealers was $62K on road with no accessories.

Luckily my car allowance covers this easly, $830/month 4.19% interest, 30K Balloon over 4 years.

Happy days again, Prado #3 for me.

This doesn’t apply to private purchase but I’ve just ordered two Prado GXL 2.8 D4D autos through government fleet; one for me and the other for my colleague. Government discounting brings the driveway price for each vehicle down to $48600 on the road. However with all the equipment we have to add from ARB and other accessories it shoots the final price through to about $77000. However as a base price for the vehicle alone it highlights how much tax etc. we pay on our vehicles! Probably didn’t need that reminder…

How do these people manage to sell cars?
Which dealership was that? Maybe they were confused with the 200 series. $73k driveaway is what I have.

I will look for the check box in service manual. Considering there are two tanks - main and auxiliary - what does the fuel indicator relate to - main or both? So, if the needle says full - does that mean full for main or full for both?
Touch wood all seems to be fine now! Filled it today for the first time - light came on briefly but only took 120L.

Thanks Mate. See this is what i like. I have used a "moot point" as part of negotiation. I didnt know that earlier that it will come with full tank regardless i negotiate or not. I wouldnt have used this point if i would have known. I could have haggled for another $$200 worth of goodies.
Thanks for pointing that out. Hopefully other users will benefit.
