    Hi Folks,
I've been a "voyeur"of this site for 2 years and thought I should join. I don't own a Prado but I'm trying to convince the other half that's the way to go.
Work has had a couple for them though. 2 X 97 one base 2.7 and another tricked out V6 promo vehicle from our local Toyota Dealer. (had to hand it back... Dang!)
I would like a 120 with a 1KZ-TE. I'm interested in running homemade biodiesel (boo hiss I know). Its a hobby thing rather than a money thing.
Great to be a part of the awesome site.
    Well done to all involved.

      Good afternoon
Just found this site and thought I would introduce myself
My call is Pradohart I own a 2007 dark grey D4D manual. it has ARB deluxe colour coded bar with a XD9000 winch and IPF lights. Front and rear lockers, piranah dual battery system, snorkel, OME 50mm lift. In the future I hope to get a rear bar of some sort and UHF radio

When I bought my Prado I said to the guy I want reversing Camera (great for hooking up the camper) and sensors and he asked me why do I want both. My reply is have you ever seen my wife in a shopping centre car park. Be that as it may 3 out of 4 corners have bark off

        Greetings All,

I can now legitimately put a posting on the site. I just ordered my new White SX 3 door Prado with Tow Bar.

Hopefully I'll get it soon, if they can locate a white one around Melbourne, otherwise I'll have to wait till it gets off the boat in 6 or so weeks time. Have never owned a 4wd before but my current car is a Toyota and I've never had a problem with it.

I've studied this forum for a few months now and have learnt stacks from all of you. There's a load of passion for Prados on this site and as newbie to 4wding, I really do appreciate all the candid conversations and at times brutal honesty with which everyone responds to the various subjects.

I'm beginning to realise that I naively thought the car was a bit expensive, hmmmm!
Looks like the accessories will keep me broke too!!

        My beginning wish list is
        Bull Bar
        Dual Battery System
        Snorkel
Recovery Kit - I suppose I should have put that first
        All Terrain tyres
OME Nitrocharger Sport Shocks - are they as good as they say?

No doubt I'll add heaps more as I understand what I need for the great outdoors I'm about to tackle.

        cheers
        Dulcie

Hi guys my name is John, I have just put down a deposit on a 120 series which I will pick up next Saturday. I've been driving an ST Patrol for the last 21 years and thought it was time to update.

As my handle indicates my passion is photography which fortunately is something I share with my (almost new) wife. We are heading to the Red Centre again in twelve weeks time and for this trip I have also ordered a new off road camper trailer which should be delivered just in time for an Easter trial.

Hope to learn heaps of tips in the forums and also impart my own knowledge regarding past travels or photography.

Thank you for the welcome ntpryce, unfortunately money ran a little short after buying a RAV4 a few weeks ago and now the Prado so we had to settle for a soft floor Bush Boy Camper which is sold by Kangaroo Tent City. We were looking at a pre loved Kimberley Kamper but it sold before we could get to see it and with time running short we decided to buy a tent.

Well you know what happens when you walk into the store to buy a tent .....you come across a camper trailer .....you think about all the nights you have spent in a tent sleeping on an air mattress .... the you look at your wife and say what the hell it's only another 10k
              Cheers,
              John

G'day out here in PP my name is Rob. I have only just signed up to this wonderful forum after spenting lots of time reading the posts. I have ordered a new 150 GXL on Tuesday. The salesrep said it would take 2-3 weeks but received an email from him yesterday advising that my Prado had arrived. When I rang him in shock he advised that the boat has come in early (I have my doubts but why complain). I should have it late next week. The important things at this stage are:

                    Model: 150 GXL Turbo diesel
                    Colour: Graphite (mid grey)
Automatic, as I spend a lot of time in traffic in Sydney
Accessories on delivery are just tint, towbar and protection option (paint, seats underbody).
To be fitting once I get my grubby mits on it will be the GMC UHF.
Cant go tricking it out to much as it is used for work and the boss would get annoyed. As he pays the bills I need to keep on his good side.

My current ride is a 2006 GXL turbo diesel that is being traded on the new one.

G'Day all. I've been a member for a few months now and have even dared to place a few posts but I've never introduced myself. We're a 2 person team - my wife (Renee) is a very keen 4WD enthusiast and loves driving our new Prado as soon as we're off the bitumin. When I caused a lot of damage to our V6 RAV4 in October last year by enjoying Stockton beach too much, we both realized we need a real 4WD. While I was getting quotes for the repairs to the RAV4, Toyata offered us a swop for the green Prado on display. Although it meant I was trading down from a 2007 model to a 2004 it didn't take long to accept the deal. It was great for us as we needed a vehichle urgently for our then upcomming South Australia expidition and the limping RAV was no longer my problem. Renee never liked green cars and when she saw it se said it looked like a boomslang (Afrikaans for treesnake). Well the name stuck and we love our green Prado. I've learn't so much from this forum and have done a few mods to the truck (yes it is not a car anymore) which was close to stock when we got it. I'm looking forward to post my rig build up in the near future. Since October we have done 11,000km (mostly off the black stuff) and have been on a PP outing as well. Regards. Piet and Renee (Team Boomslang)

                            • Re: Introductions

                              Hello,

I've been reading for a while, have posted a few, and now realise that I've not introduced myself  how rude of me  sorry all
I had a Subaru Impreza Hatch, I loved it  but then baby X came along and whilst tiny at birth (5lb 9oz) she is now part giraffe

So my husband and I went hunting, he is Toyota mad, has had Hilux's for ever for work utes ( I grew up with Subaru Brumby's  ), so the new "car" had to be a Toyota, no two ways about it

So in our hunting we saw many and varied Prado's, some had been unloved, and some were $$$, but very nice - but we wanted to pay for ours outright ( and it's damned nice to own it outright and not be paying it off  )

I found one (it had to be bloody white didn't it  much to my husbands delight) that was for auction in Melbourne.
It hit the internet on Thursday night.
I rang about it on Friday morning, got the auction guy to crawl all over it (amazing what a bit of crying baby in the background and female pleading can achieve   ) and it sounded great. Needed a new windscreen, and had a scratch on the rear LHS bumper - had been painted over- but could still be seen...... It had full service books, and was basically what we wanted (I so wanted red, but that's another story), so I told the auction guy that I would take it, sight unseen  (my husbands almost blind faith in Toyota's  and we live 3.5-4 hours from Melbourne), and he was agast, said I had to come and look at it, that he couldn't sell it to me in good faith.....
I asked if it could be test driven, he said no, not being an auction vehicle it could not.
He made me/ask very nicely/suggested I ring my husband before I spent that sort of money (my husband had seen it on the internet with me the night before).
So being the good wife that I am    , I rang my husband, I think that call lasted all of 2, maybe 3 minutes at the most  and then rang the auction guy back.
By this time it is lunchtime Friday, I explain to the auction guy that I want all the paperwork done, that I do NOT want it registered, that it will be driven home on a VICROAD's 28 day permit, and that the $ will be transferd within the next 15 mins  I think the auction guy was a bit taken back. I don't think he has many women buying 4WD's in that manner

I ring back at about 2.30pm, speak with auction guy, have you got my $?, have you done my paper work?, "yes, I already have run my insurance, they have it listed as we speak  and I will be there tomorrow afternoon at about 3pm to pick it up  "

                              So on a Saturday afternoon this is what I picked up;

A 120 series, 2005, (Bloody) White, 3.0 Turbo Diesel Auto, Fun bus and bless it's bloody white paint it hasn’t skipped a beat since I drove it out of Melbourne

We have however had some “Kangaroo” panel-beating done :? , which was really just a blessing, because now instead of a placky bumper I have a pretty colour coded (I’m pleading chick on that one  ) ARB Delux Winch Bar…
And thanks to you wonderful people at Pradopoint, the fun bus got fitted with a rear dust deflector before we headed up to the Birdsville Races last year (and it worked a treat, THANK YOU).
Have also done the Hilux squirtie thing change over (again THANK YOU), and I am having a bloody good time reading about all the other fun things that can be done, to make the fun bus more fun.
I also got the darkest legal window tint all 'round, I hate bright light, unless it's out in front of me (ie spotties), and I may have "stolen" the UHF out of the house as well ops:   .
And me being a woman and all, ( you know how we love SHOES  ) I had to get new "bootS" for the fun bus, so it now has BFGoodrich AT's, WAY BETTER THAN THE GRANDCRAPS THAT WERE ON IT
Oh yeah, did I mention that one of our groomsmen owns the Exhaust place in town  , it now has a 3 inch system all the way thru  sweet to play with, and now the fun bus has a very nice purr

I asked my husband tonight about some spotties, he was being un-fun, I don’t think he wants the Prado to be more “FUN” than his Hilux…….

Oh well there is always tomorrow

                              Cheers,
Ralph ( the female “T” part of the GTX )
Gary and Xarifa are the other Prado lovers

                                Hey people

My names Aaron, like a few people here from what i have read, i have been around for a while as a guest never really had anything to say or questions to ask as just about everything i have looked up here has been covered already which is most excellent

Anyway currently own a 1998 90 series for the past few years now did a lot of 4wheeling back in NZ and only recently started getting back into it as more of my weekends have freed up.

Only really done a few minor things to my truck really - New tints, stereo (might i add with the help of a factory wiring diagram from here) and set of Goodyear Wrangler Atr's

However I'm hanging out for the 4x4 show to purchase a Fridge and a dual battery system.
I'm currently planning on building a single drawer system in the back because believe it or not we actually use the rear dickie seats now and then, and strapping the fridge on top with a slider arrangement

                                So once again Hello

Ps. its amazing how many PP vehicles Ive seen around Brissy as of late, hell i was parked next to a Grey 120 series at Bunnings this afternoon in cannon hill, i think ive also passed Goose at Bribie a few times to
