      Hi Goose

I have just got a new 150 series petrol GXL auto. our previous car was a 1997 90 series Petrol GXL auto, we bought the car new put OME Nitrocharger 50mm lift suspension, BFG AT's LT265/75/16 tyres, a custom rear raised floor, Uniden UHF, the original Prado alloy bar, IPF 900 spoties and thats it.

We had the car for 13 years, did 240,000ks, went places people with winches, dedicated mud tyres etc without trouble (Cape York, all Outback Qld, Simpson Desert, Flinders Ranges, Birdsville Track, Oodnadatta Track, Strezlecki Track, all new South Wales, Victorian High Country.

It's all about listening and learning from good drivers along the way. A hint is to service the car according to the handbook and you won't have any problems. We trust you have as much fun in your car as we had in ours and will have in our new one.

      Yours in 4WDriving.Richo.

Hi, my name is Yngve and I just got my 120 series Prado.

I am from Norway, but currently I am working in Qatar, and while I am here the company I work for is providing me with a Prado for transport.
These cars are great vehicles, excellent for dune bashing, and we have some nice dunes to drive in here.

Every weekend we drive to inland sea, which is on the border to Saudi Arabia, to go swiming and relaxing on the beach.
This means we get to drive about 40km through the dunes each way, and let me tell you it is a blast:-)

This forum seems like a great place to find info on these vehicles.
Will post some pics, and hopefully some video as well, later on.

        Model: 120 series VX (4L V6 auto)
        Year: 2008
        Colour: Dark blue
Accessories: Only some camping gear so far
Wishlist: compressor, some functional storage setup

          Hi.
I'm Rob and I've just sold my trusty 90 series manual (bought new in 02) and moved on to an immaculate 2 year old 120 series (also a manual). This site looks great for suggestions on all areas of ownership, and places to go. I hadn't seen it before.

Looking forward to another 8 years (at least) of Prado ownership - now with two growing kids to share the experiences!

          See you out there sometime...

Vehicle is 08 GXL Petrol manual

          complete with:
Toyota Towbar - soon to replace with Hayman Reece bar,
Electronic Rustproofing (ERPS) - worked so well on the 90, I just had to fit a new one to this car.
          Rob.
'08 GXL V6 Manual with: O/L Bar, Cibie Oscars, Safari Snorkel, Revalved Ironman 45710 Struts & 45682 Shocks, Dobinsons & King springs, MickeyT STZs, Eaton E-locker on rear, ScanGaugeII, InaWise TPMS, and a Tvan controlled via TowPro.

                    hello everyone,

great forum! i just joined yesterday after i found this forum googling for info on new tyres for my 120.

i currently own (since 2005) a white 2003 GX turbo diesel automatic. has done about 189,000 kms, most since i own it.

when i bought it it was stock standard except for aircon (which i was told is not standard on a GX?) and a tow bar, so i've added Toyota roobar (black), 3 Rhino roof bars, double battery system with second battery permanent power to the back two powersupplies, Hella pencil beams, window tints and a Pioneer stereo.

due to unforeseen circumstances (lost job) back in 2008, i had to replace my Dunlop ATs with a set of 235mm Kumhos, as i couldn't afford anything more expensive and while actually not bad on the road (better than the squealing OEMs), off road is practically non-existent. they've now lasted for around 40,000 kms and i'm currently looking at buying Bridgestone D694 on the standard steel rims (l prefer the narrow steel rims to wide ones).

trips so far with this car has been a drive from where we are in Vic to Uluru and King's Canyon back in '07. as we have a (currently) 3 year old and they tend to get restless on long trips, we haven't done any others so far... :?

in the past i've done trips from Darwin to the Bungle Bungles and Alice Springs and from Brisbane to Cairns (not along the coast) with a rental Toyota troop carrier, and from Perth to the Kennedy Ranges in WA with a Prado 90.

                        Hi All,

Just joined this forum the other day after picking up our 120. Been driving an 80 series for 12 years, and decided it was time to update to a newer vehicle, and neither the 100 nor 200 appealed or fit our budget. The 80 has been well setup for our trips - ARB bar, Warn 10,000 winch, dual battery, snorkel, 305/70R16 Mickey Thompson MTZs, OME HD lift, rear tyre carrier, rear drawers, ARB compressor, Hella 1000FF lights, UHF and CB, brake controller - so looking to setup the Prado accordingly. Decided on some luxury this time around though, as I've just had a spinal fusion......

Accessories: ARB Deluxe Winch Bar, Warn Magnum 9000 winch, dual battery, rear storage setup, 50 litre water tank with 12v pump, Bilstein shocks all round, HD coils at the front, Bridgestone AT 265/65R17, rear camp/work light, fold down table on inside of rear door, ARB compressor (to be fitted), Prodigy brake controller (to be fitted)
Wishlist: Air suspension lift, bigger/more aggressive rubber, snorkel, driving lights, UHF.
2004 Grande V6 4.0, ARB colour coded bar, Magnum 9k winch, dual battery, HD King springs/Bilstein F4-BE5-A712-MO (front), Airbag Man extended airbags/OME Sport 150R shocks (rear), OziOffroad diff drop, BFG KM2s, Hella 225s, ARB CKMA12 compressor, Rhino-Rack HD bars x3/alloy tray, Sunseeker II awning, Prodigy, TX3340, cargo barrier, 50L water tank with 12v pump, rear storage system, Waeco 60L with slide, rear door table, rear camp light.
