  • Hi,
I have been busy reading and lurking for a while so I figured I will introduce myself.

    Model: 150 GXL Auto TD
    Year:2010
    Colour: Graphite
Accessories: ARB Bull Bar, OME suspension with 2" lift, snorkel, Coopers AT3 tires, UHF
Wishlist: More time and money (and permission from wife) to spend on the Prado. Next thing on the shopping list a winch... and duel batteries...and spotties or LED bar... and replace the side step that I smashed up on a rock last week.

    • Welcome Mack... good to have you aboard.

Don't worry about permission from the wife... better to use some of the well practiced techniques that other PP'ers have honed over time to explain why their Prado has grown taller, got more switches, gadgets or accessories than seeking approval. Otherwise you can always just beg forgiveness later...

Oh, and watch out for the duel batteries... they like a fight!

      • I concur with ntp, and will add that forgiveness is generally easier to obtain than permission

Already have the orange ones. Maybe have to look for pink winch rope when I get the winch installed.

After many years I have recently changed from full size Cruiser to a Prado, (I've always been a cruiser man so changing from Toyota was never an option!) I googled "Aftermarket seats for Prado" and your forum came up so I had a read. I was so impressed I joined. Here's a bit about the Family and the Prado:

The Family- 1 wife and 2 girls- all love the great outdoors- the kids were camping at 1 yo.
The Prado- 2006 TD GXL stock when purchased. Mods (so far) Cooper ATR3 tyres, ARB front bar, Hella Rally Compact spot's, Duel batteries with Pirhana digital monitor, Headrest DVD players- for the kids, UHF, Redarc remote electric trailer brake, Garmin GPS, Tom Tom Navigator.
On order- Snorkel and roof rack
On wish list- Too many to mention
Favorite 4wd destination- Vic high country (Wonnangatta especially)
Towing- Jayco Expanda Outback for the easy ones- Tent for the harder ones.

By the way thanks Forum for keeping me up all night!

Wives, like Toyotas are upgradable and accesorisable! They usually accessorise without permission and some "accessories" can cost around $12k (thats 3-4 dual locker setups or 5-6 lifts for those that have lost track of the value iof the Australian dollar). The upgrade of a wife can be EXTEMELY costly if you do not plan and have a good lawyer.

Wives however are not compatable with girlfriends or mistresses so think before attempting to acquire these models. Its a bit like parking a ford near a holden in the same garage.

There's a couple of accessories that Barbie has that Prado's don't. If Toyota can work these out... they'll sell trillions.

                            • Hi all, I'm new here, love this forum. You guys have helped me figure a lot of little issues out with all your posts, I really appreciate it! I thought I would introduce myself and my Prado. Unfortunately I don't have money to put towards upgrades, so I'm pretty much stuck with what I have. That said, It works for around Botswana, since everything is sand, I don't really need a lot of accessories, but I do dream about doing some of the upgrade you all have!

                              Model: TX Turbo Diesel
                              Year:1996
Colour: Blue/Purple (Whatever you call it)
Accessories: HID Bi-Xenon Hi/Low Beams, PIAA Sport Racing Spots, 2 inch Suspension Lift, 265/70 Michelin tyres, a bigger and better air con system to cope with the Kalahari heat. Smash and Grab window tinting to deter thieves
Wishlist:Snorkel, Dual Battery, Fridge, Winch, and a bigger roof rack

So yeah, my baby is pretty much a highway oriented vehicle, but she's seen a fair amount of sand. I've taken her into Chobe, the Kalahari, the Makadikadi and Nxai Pans.
Here's a picture of her in the Makadikadi Pans next to Baine's Baobabs
