I reckon! You expect no issues with that amount! Just looking at the Foxwings again, might be good for me just to park the swag under. Never noticed before but there is a kit for the HD crossbars that can actually be put on upside down so the damned thing is not so tall. need to see one installed somewhere. http://www.rhinorack.com.au/AccSubCa...g-Kits_62.aspx

Resurrecting this thread ! Search does help.

Tossing up between a Blackwolf or an Oztent, i have a Jayco Camper but need a tent to do a 12 day trip in May next year which includes a Simpson crossing. I have a few tents already but am looking at a quick one, i can get a BW turbo 240 Lite off eBay for under $500, but just seen a RV2 sell secondhand for $710. Im not fussed on the material but more the packing size ? Anyone got any comments ?

        Have a look on youtube.

I did, and was surprised just how big the Oztents are when packed up .

          Hi Alternative

The OZtent is large and needs to go on the roof racks, we have had ours three years and it has been put up and down at least 300 times, but they are quick to put and pack down, we have camped with others that have the BW and they take longer but the difference is between 3 minutes and or 8 minute, and they will fit inside the car.

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

OZ Tent also make the Jet Tent which packs up small but is still a quick tent to put up. Just another alternative.

I ended up anguishing about this for a while, some are too big, most are too heavy, most of the quick tents barely fit in the car.
Finally I bought a BCF Wanderer quick tent, only $299 on special, packs small enough to go across the back of the cargo area, light enough for me to handle and put up on my own in a few minutes.
              Its 2100 x 2100 (maybe 2200, cant remember!)
Used it half a dozen time now and so far pretty happy.
Its definitely a moderate to warm weather tent, not fro the freezing cold.
So far Im pretty happy with it.

Cheers, the BCF wanderer looks sweet.

Im looking to get one that is probably 240x240. This means an RV4 or BW 240, if i go for the lite version blackwolf its under $500 versus $1100 for the oztent... i know one is poly and the other is canvas but its not going to get the use for the extra $.

I reckon ive talked myself into BW

Looks similar to the new Coleman "Instant Up" tent range with regards to frame setup type. These coleman tents are available in a couple of sizes and are nicely priced also.

I am looking at a Blackwolf Turbo Lite Plus 240 for our Cape trip next year. The main advantages that I can see over the Oztent is the more compact storage size and the cheaper price. I'm not too sure if condensation will be a problem. Has anyone who has used a turbo lite had a problem with this?
                            cheers

I bought one of the Coleman Instant Up tents. It's the 6 person one, and it's bloody huge! We fit a queen size 4WD mat, a travel cot for the little one, and there's still loads of spare room. It has 360 degree of opening windows, so there is loads of airflow. It goes up pretty quick, and at $299 on sale, it was a really good price! It fits in the back of the prado easily too.

I have got a dome type tent I used when doing a motorbike trip around Australia, did the job, but after a 3 month of daily use its pretty well stuffed.
When I did a 4wd trip around OZ I took an Orion tent, used it for 3 month and for numerous camping trips since, its like new and one of those once in a lifetime investments
                                http://www.tambocampers.com.au/OrionTents.html

The OZ tent looks, good, no centre poles and square walls are a good thing, much better than the pyramid design.
stepped up the a 200 LC for towing,
but had a 2012 and 2010 150 Prado GXL auto diesel in Graphite with Bridgestone D697 A/T. Dobinson C59-300/325 and Bilsteins. Accessories : two baby seats. Sidewinder`s Dual Battery isolator and rear power outlet kit. Pirana Battery tray, Hayman Reese towbar with Toyota wiring kit and Brains`s guard.
