Winch Choice

Premier got a good writeup. When I saw the Bushranger at a 4WD show I thought it looked strangely similar to the Premier. I reckon they're made in the same factory - even the warning stickers were in the same position. At a shade under $1300 including plasma rope and nylon hawse it suited my budget. It's certainily paid for itself - no more forking out heaps in the way of cartons of beer to get friends to come and pull me out of the mud.

Yeah, I like the Premier too.
A mates had one and has been flogging it for 7 years on his Cruiser and its been great.
Just out of the budget range at $1350 + rope.
I saw the Bushranger on Saturday and youre right, its very similar but they didnt have any stock with rope.
The one I saw didnt look quite like yours thought, it was even more similar to the Premier.

Got the Mako TDS 9.5.
Surprised at the overall quality of all of it.
Cables fittings solenoids, machining, gearbox, the lot, all first class.
Very happy, just have to finish the install with dash switches and some split loom and she'll be rockin!
Control box, wireless remote (useless thing) all fits nicely on the motor.

OK - Yes, it's an ARB Deluxe bar and he had to take the motor off the end to get it in (but no mods).

Only missed out by a few mm, so maybe other peoples may go straight in depending on exactly how their bar has been mounted???
My bar seems to have an additional welded lip underneath the bar, doest appear to serve any purpose, I dont think they all have it and if it wasnt there it would slip straight in with taking anything apart.

Lets see what Rob has to say now????

If you can hang on for a couple of days Snaga is leaving the country shortly, you might be able to slip round and get "your" winch while hes not there

Great thinking Big Cheese, they say revenge is sweet, I may get the Pradopoint Fairy to distract his lovely family, I'll bet he hasn't got it installed yet so may be very easy to remove from his garage

Yeah, it was Opposite Lock.
They tried hard to convince to buy a VRS winch and I was fully prepared to have a look and consider it even though it has a conventional brake setup.
They claim its a Warn (entry level as the arrogant tossers put it), to compete with the likes of Avenger.
They didnt have any when I went so it was no contest.
Im happy, so its all good

Im starting to wonder whether MLC and Treki are twins
