  • Who is your insurance company?

    Hi all,
I know this has asked before, but the other threads are old, and I am after some up to date information.

I have purchased (and eagerly awaiting) a 2016 VX and now am looking at insurance companies to ensure I have the adequate cover for pickup.

Who is your insurance company, and how much do you pay (monthly or annually)? (feel free to just discuss, if you do not wish to disclose your payment amount) And also if you go through a broker of some sorts, please list your broker.

    Thanks for your assistance

I use Toyota Insurance for my 2016 Kakadu, they have been quite competitive on the price with me and I used them for my old car and had no issues when it came to claiming using Toyota Genuine Parts (albeit only claimed for Glass Replacement).
I pay $150 a month, agreed value of $87k, excess-free glass cover, Rating 1 driver, 23 years old, Male.

    Benefits listed are:
3 year new for old replacement (providing the car is written-off) [Industry Standard]
Taxi Cover (so you can get home after your accident)
Rental Car in the event your car was stolen
Repairs using Toyota Genuine Parts (included glass, had a windshield company try to install a cheap Chinese made windshield, rung up Toyota Insurance and they made sure it was replaced using a Genuine acoustic windshield, very easy!)
    Lifetime repair guarantee

I'm sure there are many other fantastic companies out there, but I found Toyota Insurance to be cheaper then the majority, I've already had pleasant experiences using them and can't go past the Genuine Parts factor.

Jasmal , Have a read of this thread, particularly if you have a caravan.
      http://caravanersforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=67080

I started thread after a medical incident whilst away and was in a position that , even though I had RACQ Ultimate and comprehensive insurance, my van was not covered with a medical incident. I could get the car home (RACQ) but not the van.

You will note that with car and van my excess for each reduced to $200 whereas car under old insurance company it was $600.
Insurance was done through Ken Tame and Associates and here is a link https://www.kentame.com.au/quote/tou...uote/view/form

      Price was very competitive

AAMI - just under $800 p/a, including life-time rating 1 and windscreen replacement. I've had all my cars and home with AAMI and had to get a few repairs done (never at fault), so I like them This is for a 2016 Kakadu. No mods, except a towbar.

Budget Direct - $80 a month. By the sounds of it I'm getting ripped and need to shop around. They were dodgy to begin with when they quoted me a cheaper price over the phone that was $12 a month cheaper than the paperwork stated that they sent me a few days later. I phoned a couple of times to point this out and they told me there was nothing they could do. I needed to get insurance after quitting NRMA after 16 yrs so annoyingly went with them anyway. I had to make a claim a few months later when I was rear ended and they made the claim process a bit painful and drawn out longer than it needed to be. I expressed my disappointment and the manager gave me his personal mobile number and told me to deal with him during the course of that matter and it went well from then on. They do send a text msg warning of severe storms or if hail is predicted for my area which is good.

When I was with NRMA for 16 yrs I was ran into on a roundabout by a woman who merged into my lane by turning in front of me while on the roundabout and wiped herself out in the process as she had a much smaller car. There was some damage caused from that accident that NRMA refused to fix so we parted ways. The woman that hit me wasn't the full 6 pack. She was super emotional at the time and after giving me the silent treatment for 20 minutes when I was trying to help her or talk to her she decided to ask me what damage was on my car. I only pointed out the superficial damage I only noticed at the time on my bull bar. She may have told her insurance company who in turn told mine. NRMA tried to resolve the issue with follow up phone calls but still fell short. I was originally with Suncorp in my younger days. They became well known for being horrifically expensive for younger drivers at the time so gave them the flick.

I use Elders. Never had a claim so I wouldn't know what they are like. I went with them becasue they will insure offroad and $24000 accessories.

Thanks Everyone, I have contacted most and have received quotes.

Many were around the 1200-1300, but some were 1700 plus (needless to say I won't consider them, as they are exact same policy)

I have found Allianz to be the best (through by Broker) at 1200, and I have triple checked the policy, and they cover 4x4. I just haven't checked out the accessories/modifications and equipment part, which I will be doing this weekend.

                              Hey jasmal,

I have my Prado insured with ANZ,
cost is $72.79 a month ($873.48 / year) that's an agreed price of $30k for the base vehicle and 10k in accessories.(maximum of 30% of vehicle price)

one thing to triple check with is your off-road coverage. Many insurance companies (specially the budget/cheaper ones) will only cover you on gazetted roads. meaning as soon as you go offroad or up the beach you are not covered.

I can attest to ANZ's coverage. I was totally upfront and made a claim on diaper road in Landcruiser Park back in Feb of this year. it took me a little time to get through to the Indian phone operator than the dirt "bank" I slid into wasn't a brick building and did not have a branch name. but once the assessor came out and inspected everything it was sweet. I got a quote from their approved repairer and one of my choosing. My chosen repairer came back at almost twice the price but the assessor looked at the two quotes and realised their approved repairer had left out heaps of stuff. e.g. they quoted to repaint the front guard, included all the clips and fastenings but didn't include the actual replacement guard. I think they were being cheeky to try and win the job.

My chosen repairer got the job and everything ended up sweet.
