Last week travelling from Darwin to Alice Springs to visit family members we had the unfortunate incident of a blowout at 125 kmh (rear passenger side tyre).
We were about 50 km south of Elliott an almighty bang, nothing we could do, witnesses said the vehicle rolled at least four times, I can only remember the first roll.
My wife and I escaped with broken ribs, heaps of cuts and bruises, the main thing was that we both survived thanks to the Prado's safety features and ruggedness.
We cannot thank enough the people who stopped to help us especially the lady from the Elliot night patrol who was first on the scene. We were stabilised at the scene, then transported the 220 km to Tennant Creeek by ambulance where we spent the night at the hospital. The next morning we were flown to Alice Springs by the RFDS and both spent a few days in hospital.
The tyres I was running were Goodyear Wranglers and had at least 85% tread, don't really know what happened but as you can see in the pic the rear tyre was really shredded.
Once again my grateful thanks to everyone who stopped and helped us and who recovered all our posessions that were scattered far and wide.
I really loved that car so will now upgrade to the 150
