I really don't understand why you are thinking this way. Petrol & diesel is available all over the country.

Yes you are missing something, Hook a camper trailer up behind your Petrol and try and drive 1300km through outback tracks and sand dunes with no fuel stops................

But if you want to take it to the extreme we don't really require oxygen either, unless of course you want to live

Diesels with trailers in the outback commonly use well over 20L/100km so you'll be taking extra fuel just as the petrol guys do... and when you arrive at the next station, you'll find a petrol pump right besides the diesel.

What you won't find is a broken down petrol because the fuel was just slightly dirty, nor a blown petrol engine due to injector seals failing.

Which is why I pay an auto sparky to wire my electrical accessories for me,been there done that but not to that extent.

Something for amateur auto electricians to consider? Nice 2010 Prado with lots of aftermarket stuff installed. Currently being dismantled, cause of fire is unknown - but...

The Ford Falcon 4 x 4 XY ute would be worth a lot. They only made about 4 or 6 and there wouldn't be too many left.

Overheard a staff member in Repco tell a customer over the phone that driving a diesel isn't required in this country. I laughed and the guy serving me agreed with him. I told them they have no clue. Pair of 20 year olds

I saw one of those Overlander conversions - the Holden Sandman panel van lifted and sitting on a pair of skinny axles with 4x4. It got me thinking. What is old is new again so why not convert your favourite car from the 50/60/70/80s or whenever and chuck it onto a 4x4 chassis from some reliable donor. Why waste $80 on a new Kakalatte or $120K on a 200 top of the woosa when you could build something for a quarter of that price.

Do you mean something like this? Seen on Fraser a few years ago (I always wanted one of those Overlanders)
