I have spoken to a mate who has expressed some interest in coming in my car.

The Chace Range 4WD track is on Arkapena station, near Rawnsley Park station (across the road almost), just south of Wilpena Pound. We can do it on Wednesday if your keen to stay the extra day. It takes abut 5hrs and costs $35.

Can be done as an alternative to SkyTrek too.

I have my brother coming in the Prado with me. There's also a a guy I know coming solo in a Surf.

Ah ha, it makes sense now.

A group of friends and us stayed at Rawnseley in October 07, and while one of my mates and i plus our two elder youngsters did an overnight walk into wilpena the rest of the group did that track. My wife drove solo and said she enjoyed it more than Skytrek (probably because i wasnt giving her 'advice' from the passenger seat)

Just checking the dates again, are you talking the 4th to 7th, or 6th to 9th? I can definitely make it if we go Saturday to Tuesday, but probably wont be able to if we go Monday to Thursday, and my mate will be the same.

Those that have sent me a PM or shown interest in this trip please read the following post:

            Prado Point Disclaimer

Also, please read the following Australian National Four Wheel Drive Council codes of conduct which set the minimum standards of behaviour and responsibilities I expect of those tagging along with me on trips, especially as these tracks are all on private land and I'd like to do return trips!!

            On road driving
            Off road driving
            Camping

I will have maps and trip notes ready shortly.

                  Hey Mick,

Whats your no-go temperature. I have started hearing rumours that March (and into April) could still be stinking hot. I never put much faith in long range forecasts of the tea-leaves variety, but this one was from a more reputable source.

Still no sign of a swag, though i'm getting through the expenses that are on the list b4 the swag, so hopefully soon.

                  Cheers

Good question, I guess anything over low to mid 30's is going to be VERY unpleasent and we'd have to reconsider going. What were your thoughts?

However having said that we will be driving during the heat of the day and so far it's boys only which means less whining about the temp

I'll keep an eye on the long range forcasts and see how we go....

Pretty much exactly that. Anything above 33-35 is a killer for any form of camping, especially up that way. We will see how it goes.

                          Re: Flinders trip- April 2009

This would have been a great opportunity for me to tag along on with my first trip with other PPers but unfortunately/fortunately leaving on April 10 for the round trip to Alice, Finke, Mt Dare, Dalhousie, William Creek and back through the Flinders. I've been in Adelaide since the 70's and never been to the Flinders. Hmm.... Bit slack, should have bought a Prado a lot earlier. Everyone keeps saying how good it is.

I can't get more holidays for the 2009 GTG so hopefully I can make the next trip that is organised from Adelaide.

Have a great trip to the Flinders.

Sounds like an excellent trip. We'll be doing something similar in June just prior to the PP GTG. Look forward to seeing your Trip Report. 8)

ps. Keep an eye out for any NT PPoiners while in Alice Springs.

                                Mick,
my apologies for not replying sooner but I still don't have confirmation of a work trip to PNG around Easter so I haven't been able to commit to your trip. If possible I wouldn't mind catching up with you anyway this weekend to discuss this and other trips. Send me a PM with the details if that is OK with you.
