probably go in on cut rock rd , prickly ridge rd, maybe check out old mill rd , or bowmans rd . other than that look around . only been there once and stuck to the main rds .

Last time I did that one it resulted in one broken CV, a snapped off tail light assy, bent lower trailing arm, one bent door, four snatch straps linked together trying to climb out with the broken car, long steep clay hills and some of the deepest bog holes I have ever driven through, with the only options being top of tyre deep, top of bonnet deep or turn around.

It was one of the best days out though!

If by "the other beast" you mean the decked out blue 80, well I didn't go with it. The owner didn't really want to sell it. He just knew I wanted it really badly so he thought he could ask an exorbitant price for it.

a couple of pics form my satday watagans sojourn . first one is from the top of burnt bridge rd , we were on the wrong track thanks to the brilliant toyota sat nav . next ones are on cut rock rd . there was a bit of moisture around which made taking decent pics hard .

these ones are from greens break rd , over grown and aparently fine for an suv until you meet this little hill about t 3/4 of the way through . the pics never do it justice . i would have taken it on in the dry , but where you see the car parked is the point of no return . not goin in there without sliders or bash plates and even then you're gonna be in a world of hurt . you can't see them but there are a couple of big holes in this hill, couple that with the slippery clay , and the best mud tyres wouldn't help .

the only real bog hole i found which was on new mill rd . took six goes to bulldoze my way up it . found a new use for the winch hook, a clay storage device , it never came off till i hit it with the gerni . drove along bowmans rd (dull ) till we turned down to dannys pt ,(no not daniels pt rd ) this track had not been used for quite a while . we didn't get to the end of it , it was too overgrown and was trying to remove the snorkel and awning with inch thick vines .

Looks like i missed out on a sticky day kav, sorry counld't make it, was super keen but stuff came up. i had a mate head up their that same day in his hilux and he got well and truly stuck. I will be heading up their in the next fortnight with him and a patrol, will post date.

Hilux at Watagans


Here is my mates hilux you may have passed him. he reckons he was about to settle in for the night after trying to get out for 2 hours till another hilux came and winched him out. Oh and he has diff locks and a winch but both were use less.

Anyone up for a drive this weekend? Or even better, camping? I'm currently in limp mode but I'm pretty certain country exposure fixes all ailments Especially when sitting around a camp fire.

I cant go as we have Woolongong on saturday for lunch/tea and have the central coast for sunday lunch, both birthdays and thirdly I wouldnt make it up the first hill with grancraps on so Im out lol.........Cheers Steve
