I think they are trying to dodge everyone that doesn't fit exactly their self proclaimed criteria!

Hi Mozz,Originally posted by Mozz View PostI called the Mackay dealership today and was not even asked build date or kms was told if I'm not the original owner I can't make a claim. Has anyone had a replacement under warranty that isn't the original owner.
I was the third owner and had my 11.03 gxl approved about seven weeks ago, sounds like they're trying to dodge you.
Mike.

went in today, they took snaps and said they would email to toyota HQ. guy didnt like my chances being an old car. ironically he pointed at another 120 sitting there saying it was here for the same thing. he said totally upto toyota's discretion and didnt mention age cutoff, ask me for log books or any info. just wrote down rego and my name. didnt ask if I was the original owner or anything.
Fingers crosssed. will post results. I am not hopeful. if you don't ask you don't get right?

I went there a couple of weeks ago and they took photos etc and submitted to Toyota. I asked them if ownership history was an issue and they said it isn't. Claim was rejected by Toyota due to age (11/04) so spoke to Toyota HQ and they wouldn't go any further. If yours is under 10 years old I would just turn up at the dealer rather than ring them and tell them you have a cracked dash and understand there is a recall which you believe your vehicle qualifies for. If the girl at the front says no ask to speak to the service manager. Alternatively go to Toyota on 1800 073 702 and see where that gets you.Originally posted by Mozz View PostI called the Mackay dealership today and was not even asked build date or kms was told if I'm not the original owner I can't make a claim. so how does one submit to toyota HQ direct?Originally posted by winniliss View PostMy dealer said they won't replace my headlights under extended warranty due to UV damage (they never have) and steering wheel due to wear and tear. I said put the claim in anyway and guess what, Toyota approved it. People can always take their own photos and submit them directly to Toyota HQ if you are having issues with your dealer.

I was pretty much told exactly the same thing about the material the new dashboards are made from, hopefully they last. I was also told as mine's an 11.03 that this was an offer of goodwill by Toyota rather than a warranty claim, although on the invoice it states out of warranty claim and that there was no recourse if the dashboard went the same way as the last one. I suppose only time will tell but I've put a dashmat straight back on it and always try to park in the shade so I'll see how long this one lasts for..Originally posted by rusty68 View PostYep happy as, Dropped off at 9 and was ready by 11.30, 12 month warranty unlimited Ks, i asked if it was the same Material and how long it would last, i was told that it should be made of a different Material once Toyota realized there was a problem they would have changed the way it was made, i wasnt convinced but am happy i have a new dash.

Similar story to others on here.
Rang my local dealer and they have booked my car in for assessing, however they did say even though my car fell within the VIN range, it was outside the 10 years, so not to be too hopeful.
Will report back soon.
For those with vehicles within but close to the 10 year limit, jump in there!

Just booked mine in to be inspected on 26th Feb. Service Dept. new about the bulletin and only asked for the rego number not VIN.
As my dash is only cracked across the instrument cluster and around the drivers side vent, I'm not expecting I'll have much luck. But you never know unless you try.

Mine is outside the 10 years now. Really made a mess of the interior look which was otherwise always kept in great shape with dash protectant etc.

That's the attitude I got from Toyota HQ. They would not budge and would not transfer me to speak to anyone higher up the food chain there. Got as far as the team leader at the call centre (Paul I think) and when I asked to speak to someone higher up he stated there was no one higher up that could do anything about it. If anyone has a name/number for someone who can take it further please let me know.Originally posted by ejukated View PostThe guy I spoke to at the dealership adamantly said there is nothing they can do. Pretty much wiped their hands of it, almost seems like they're instructed to dissuade people from furthering or seeking exemptions.
