Mine is closer to the 10 year deadline (April 2006 build with almost 150,000km) but I'll know what happens when I take it in this Friday. I think I have a good chance of a replacement happening, and if I do, you should be fine

Just read the recent posts on this.
I've had a hairline crack starting near driver's side A/C vent up across lip above instrument cluster to other side for about 12months now. The rest of the dash is fine
My Prado is March 2006 build with 180,000km's. - just within the 10 year limit
Will go see a few Perth dealerships and report back later in the week

5/05 with 180k on the clock. Only contact has been over the phone, they haven't seen the car or asked for an odo reading. If I get a letter you guys will be the first to know!Originally posted by ejukated View PostInteresting... What month is yours? Could you post back here when you get the letter?

The guy I spoke to at the dealership adamantly said there is nothing they can do. Pretty much wiped their hands of it, almost seems like they're instructed to dissuade people from furthering or seeking exemptions. Pretty disappointing considering they can clearly see in their computer it was purchased there brand new and serviced every 5,000km by them for 6 years.Originally posted by mexmike View PostMy advice would be that if you've been initially rejected appeal the decision to the National Warranty Manager via the dealership, that's what I did and the claim was eventually accepted. Good luck I hope you get the right result with your dashboard.
Cheers,
Mike.

I was polite and firm with the guy however he seemed to be expecting some backlash and kept reading from the script.
Looks like I will be escalating to Toyota HO. Car is Oct 2005 and has had the cracks for about 3 years.
Cheers,
Mike.

interesting, called them again to double check if I need to make an appointment before I bring it down. They asked around and said theres a range of VIN. They are going to look it up off my service records and let me know...Originally posted by smally View PostI just rang my local Toyota dealer and enquired about the dashboard cracking problem & was told they have just released a recall! So I got onto Toyota again today to ask for my issue to be reviewed and they have straight out refused to take any responsibility or offer any form of fix as it is over 10 years old. Specified that others older have had theirs done and various other arguments but they completely refuse to do anything at all. This is piss poor in my opinion as they know they have produced a faulty product, they have not taken steps to inform the owners of the fact that there is a problem, and once it is well out in the open they refuse to take responsibility for it. Great car unfortunately let down by poor manufacturer back up.

Earlier posts indicate the Toyota document states under 250000 but not sure. Just take it in and see how you go. If it gets knocked back get onto HQ and make some noise.Originally posted by Mozz View PostMine is a 12/06 done 320000km. Does the kms have much bearing on the claim.
