As far as I know it's a common problem for 03-06 models , bad materials where used, the same material was used on the Lexus , same ur models, replacing the dash is a huge job, my solution was to just use a dash mat and sticker bomb over the cracks the mat doesn't cover , has worked for me and prevention of the cracks spreading , btw u have no chance from Toyota coming to the party for any help

It's great to see that some of you are having a win with dash replacements, mine took a while but as I have said I was polite and persistent, never losing my shit with the dealership after all its in their best interest to get it approved so they get the business. The initial skepticism I was copping on fb & here to a degree has now gone due to the fact more people are getting approval, I sincerely hope that everyone who has a cracked dash gets it replaced under warranty. I have since sent Toyota a thank you email praising them for doing what no other manufacturer would do and by standing by their product, especially after thirteen years. That speaks volumes to me, I'm going to keep an eye on this thread with interest and see how the rest of you people fare. Good luck everyone....

I made the out of warranty request at Blood Toyota Geelong. Service manager took photos and video and was not optimistic, said he'd never seen it before.....yeah right!. Anyway next day phone call to say Toyota Australia will replace it free of charge within a week. No issues. I'm totally stoked. The car is 9.5 years old. The crack was over the instrument binacle not the airbag. Worth making the enquiry. Wal

Thanks Wal for letting us know, I will be taking mine back to my dealer in the next few days and putting in a warranty claim.

Its about time Mr Toyota came to the party and started fixing this known problem. I hope they get flooded for replacement requests.
It took me over 12 months of fighting to get my money back from Toyota.

Service manager was happy too because he gets $2500 - 3000 work and gets paid by Toyota Australia direct. As the previous post said Service Book for VIN required and my vehicle hadn't seen a Toyota Service Centre since the warranty ran out. There was no issue with that. I'm told by the service manager at my local Toyota dealer that Toyota are currently reviewing the CSE on the deteriorating dashboards, having replaced some over the 7 year limit on a pro-rata basis there *may* be a possibility that vehicles older than 7 years *may* get full warranty on P&L. Nothing in writing obviously and we'll have to wait and see. I didn't get the usual denials of a problem and talked at length with the guy regarding the amount of failures appearing on the net and the recall in the US of the melting dashes. Then again could also be BS from this guy too.
Get yours to a dealer for inspection if you haven't already and lodge your details and VIN.

Hey mate, how did you go with the dealer? Is there any service bulletin number to quote? I better go see my local dealer about it. My '05 has had the hairline crack for a while now

No such luck! While parked in a cool underground car park today for an hour mine developed a second 6" crack! And this is a car that has spent most of the last 7 years in a garage during the day. Good one Toyota!
