      • Hello PradoPoint guys and gals,

My name is Michael and Ive recently purchased a 2019 gxl prado. I previously had an fj cruiser but due to a growing family, an upgrade was needed. Been lurking around in the background just gathering information and familiarising myself with the new vehicle.

        Model : GXL
        Year : 2019
        Accessories :
        - Snorkel fitted so far
        - diff breathers (Thanks to pp for a great write up)
        - Dobinsons IMS suspension (sitting in the garage waiting for some free time)
        - whiteline upper control arms (also sitting in the garage, dreading the fitment as the engine bay looks rather cramped)

hope to meet some new people and hit some tracks with the nsw pp members.

          Model: GXL
          Year: 2010
          Colour: Graphite
          Accessories: Stock as a rock

          • Hi all,

I am glad to be back with access into the Forum again. I used to participate sort of regularly a few years ago, but I dropped away.
Recently traded-in our reliable and well running series 90 GXL petrol for a new GXL 2.8 L diesel. So I have certainly have been following the posts, since May 2019 actually.
Finally this evening, after a number of attempts to get contact back with Pradopoint, something came through. So thanks Web Master.

The old Prado (year 1999) had just over 392,000km on the dial and I had it since 2002. Well serviced and minimal problems.
From what I read in the Forum, it seems a new world with newer technology diesels and seemingly more complicated servicing.

We needed a vehicle with greater than 2.5 tonne towing capacity, but could not afford a modern 200 series or needed their bulk.

New vehicle (purchased July 2019) goes well so far. Of course uses less fuel than the old one. It gets very little work around the suburbs, mostly our runs are one to two trips a week between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. I must say that I have not been able to tell if and when any DPF burns have occurred.

During a recent trip with our caravan to northern NSW, we had short excursion on to a beach where we helped snatch an Amarok that was bogged they towed a boat. New GXL handled the sand well. Of course.

            2022 Jimny too

                  • Hey all.
My name is Steve and I've recently moved to Australia from the UK and live happily with my wife in Melbourne.
I owned Landrovers in the UK but decided that a Toyota Prado was the best (and only) choice for me here. In the UK I could only really drive off road on off road courses or public byways that don't really go anywhere. So it's great to own a vehicle and live in a country where I can use it for what it's meant for.
My car is a 2012 Prado GXL and was purchased with an ARB bulbar and BFG KO2 tyres. I've fitted spotlights, diff breathers, catch can and a Uniden uhf radio. The idea is to keep the build as cheap and as lightweight as possible whilst giving us everything we need for touring and overlanding.
So I'll be asking lots of questions that have probably been asked a hundred times before. I look forward to hearing from you guys.
                    Cheers
                    Steve

                    A work in progress.

                    • Hi folks,

my name is Tim and am in Perth, originally from Ireland (Tramore) but been in Aus since 1994.

Current rig is an Isuzu MU-X but am currently in planning stage looking to buy a new Prado.

I did see a list of prices for different models online last week but buggered if I can find it again :-) Should have bookmarked it.

Anyhow, am caught between either a GXL or coughing the extra on a VX.

                      Cheers

                      Tim.

                          • Bula from Fiji! I have an ex-government fleet model which has drivetrain options not seen in OZ.

                            Model: J150 TX (LJ150-GKMEE) Year: 2011
                            Colour: White
                            Drivetrain: Diesel 5L-E 3.0 4cyl non-turbo (70kw), 5 speed manual.
Accessories: Snorkel, Jump seats in trunk so its a 9 seater. Has tailgate mounted spare but only single fuel tank.
Wishlist: Better sound system, facelift to current model.

There are lots of difference between this one and what I see is as standard in the Aussie J150.user manual like no smart display, no reversing camera. Ask away if there are any questions.
