    $50 from a wrecker.

A mate of mine has just realised a long held ambition to own a Prado after picking up a 2009 D4D recently, but was disappointed to find no trip computer (along with uncomfortable drivers seat and rattle after installing a snorkel) so this may be of interest to him. What do you think the chances are of him plugging and playing with something out of a Grande?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

A scangauge would be better value offering a myriad of more useful information and being more accurate too. The factory MFD is rather optimistic when it comes to the fuel economy.

Sort of thought that, thanks for your confirmation Andrew, at the prices that most wreakers charge for parts, a scanguage II isn't that much more expensive.

          G'day,
I have a '08, D4D ,... and from reading this thread,.. i take there are 2 different part Numbers / units, one for petrol and one for the Deisel?,... i.e.: i couldn't grab a unit from a petrol Grande, and "plug and play" into my Deisel???

          Cheers

Well i took the gamble. i spoke to 2 different Toyota dealerships, got printouts of the Part Numbers etc, and i bought a unit from a V6, for my D4D. From talking to the Dealers, it is basically a display that shows the readings from the ECU, so shouldn't be a problem,... famous last words right ,.. but we will see how we go,...

i tested my distance to empty right down to 6km and when i filled it it took 185.7L !!

Well, so far the MFD works a treat. Mine came from a 2003 V6 Grande,.. my car being a 2008, D4D GXL. I asked 2 separate Toyota Dealers, and was told the item would fit and work,... and blow me down,..it did,... plug and play,.... Got the owners manual out, Calibrated the compass, the Altitude,... works like a dream... a nice little addition

I found one in Melton, Vic. Took lots of calling and ringing around apparently these things are hot property once a Grande comes in for wrecking. There is at least one more out there that I know of ( as of the other day when I was calling around) as for how much I paid... Let's just say I paid a bit more than I should have but in the end, supply and demand etc... I wanted one and he had it so deal was done,..... PM me and and I'll try and find the other dealers details for you....

D4D.... Sent you a PM mate

I drove mine until DTE = 0km (butt clenching moment) and filled up with 175L. It then went up to 1249km.
