If only the early 120s had the OBDII port. I'd rather have the scangauge than the MFD, although the scangauge feels a little clunky in use. I do like the iOS and Android app though which has a nicer GUI.Originally posted by Tony.P View PostI have just installed my new scangauge 2.It provides all the information the standard Prado multi information display does and more.Very easy to install and only $180 delivered to my door,I highly recomend it.Last edited by amts; 05-03-2012, 02:08 PM. I'm not using any cause I don't have an OBDII port. There are a few on the Market that looks pretty good. And you can get bluetooth OBDII 'devices' too.Originally posted by Smickbus View PostHi Amts, which android app are you using? and what is the IPS. I've had a search and most of the apps are for OBD2 only....

I have installed the MFD from a Grande into my GXL, It's plug and play so all of 10 minutes and you're away.Originally posted by amts View PostJust as an update, my bro-in-law visited with his 2003 GXL and we had to replace his stereo. So while the centre stack was out, I took a few pics of the multi-function display. There appears to be quite a lot of cables which might support all the functions of an MFD from a Grande.

Mines a late 2005 1kz manual, the MFD came from an un-known year, petrol auto. I took a bit of a chance at the time, but a quick look on ToyoDIY.com shows they are all the same until the 8/2007 when the part number changes by one digit.Originally posted by Steve M View PostWhat year model you guys refering to ?? or it doesn't matter ??......Cheers Steve
ToyoDIY also shows it made up of several parts (keypad/display/ecu) in reality this is all assembled in one unit and only held into the dash with two screws.
The same loom/plug that plugs into GXL/clock temp unit also plugs into the MFD.
I'd suggest a non-specialist 4x4 wrecker would be your best bet price wise. The Toyota ones seem to charge a bit like genuine dealers do $$$$$.
The unit works great, compass only needed calibrating once and the unit holds memory so you have to clear the L/100 from the donor vehicle.
The l/100 reads 0.5lts per 100 over the manually calculated figure but I have bigger tyres on so it's close. There is no calibration for L/100 but you could possibly trick the unit by modifying the speedo pulse to it with something like a Humming Bird or Jaycar speedo correction unit but I haven't looked further into it and probably can't be bothered.
Distance to empty seems to match the low fuel light coming on almost spot on.
Altitude is all over the place but matches the one on my Suunto watch. Pretty typical of an electronic barometer based altitude sensor as they measure small changes in air pressure so are effected by the weather.
Baro readings pretty much match my Suunto watch also.
