      Re: FJ Cruiser for Australia

On the 24th of Dec last year I was heading back to work after lunch with a few other staff members and spotted a yellow FJ parked across the road from my work. Whoever was driving it would have been in the seafood shop across the road buying a few things for xmas dinners, but by the time I had driven up to the work carpark and ran down to grab a couple of shots on the phone, it had gone.
Given that Toyota head office is just around the corner from me, you can bet that one of the execs was driving it.
Personally I dont mind the look of them in the flesh and if not for the fact that I have have not long bought a 150 and that the FJ is petrol only, I wouldn't mind having one in my garage 8)

Actually the FJ did get an update for 2011, but the upgrades were internal. A new engine configuration, the 150 frame, new suspension, new inner fenders (hopefully to solve the cracks) and some new small features. The locking differential and items like A-Trac are now standard.

The FJ will be made through the 2013 model year. This is good because the FJ-C started as a limited edition that was only expected to last 2 years.

My wife thought I was crazy when I showed her a pic and a little less when she saw it, but I guess toy have to like the shorty to appreciate it. She has now turned to my way of thinking and loves it and even wants one of her own.

                        Re: FJ Cruiser for Australia

I will put together some shots for you today. The Australian spec is a single vehicle with the only variation being colour. Five speed auto with V6, aggressive traction control and electric rear diff lock are standard along with AC of course. Tyres are 17" and 70 profile. A very limited range of accessories will be available with some imported from the USA by the look of them.

I will be interested to see how the A/TC and rear diff lock perform on our advanced training track

                        Regards

OK here's some observations after putting it over our test tracks. All round visibility is much better than you may expect and I found it quite easy to position individual wheels quite accurately in very tight situations. It looks even better in real life than the photo's. Feels light and nimble on and off-road. I think they will sell well
