    Received delivery, yay.

The delivery guy had the exact winch I ordered in the truck and I got excited thinking it was for me, but alas it was for someon else

    Will unpack and inspect later.

This is part of my winch order, but of course the winch itself is on back order lol

There's a bushman mechanic tool kit so I can put my good tools back in the shed and leave these at the house/in the car/use for race days. A throttle controller, just because I really wanted to try one. An offset fairlead as I read mixed things about whether standard will work or not and as a freebie I got one of those battery boxes that has the 12v/usb/anderson plugs on it, like a big portable battery bank, which I'll sell.

Had a look at the tool kit, it's not bad and the bag is quite generous also.

intrested to know how the throttle controller is considering one if it’s worth it

Keep in mind my car is petrol so my experience is going to be different.

There are lots of threads on here from happy owners. I say for $99, just do it and if you don't like it, sell it for $90 and know it cost you $9 to find out.

15min install, set it to dynamic, the first of 3 increasingly aggressive settings, so this is as mild as it gets besides "off".

Opted to just cable tie it up out of the way for testing, though you could leave it there as it clears fine.

Cable is long enough to sit over near OBD port easily, but would require a few more mins to nearly secure there.

Will see how it drives on the way to work tomorrow.

Initial thoughts, I like it. Set to Sport now, I like that better, race is too touchy, dynamic not enough for me. That may change once th car has a little bit more zip from intake/exhaust.

Nice to have it be more eager to drop down gears as I drive in hilly terrain daily.

Also noticed my floor mats, really nice moulded things, inhibit full pedal range so this is especially good for me lol

I can see why these are so popular on turbo diesel also.

Had some vouchers from last years race season so used those before they expired and got some silicon joiners for intake pipe.

                  Airfilter arrived early.

Will pop in on the weekend when I can do the airbox mod also.

Looking at Raptor Remapping (PowerGate) as the results look very impressive and may negate the need for an exhaust (also cheaper at $1280 vs 2k+).

                  Details here - http://raptorsc.com.au/toyota/toyota-remapping/

I'm just confirming if the results would be better again or largely no difference with the exhaust.

I would sacrifice some absolute outright power to keep the car quiet and save 2k that I could spend on the race car.

Box is massive given filter size, you get 2 stickers (neither will be used) and a warranty card, no manual of any sort so cleaning instructions must be on the website.

Popped filter in and vortex generator out last night. There's 3x M12 screws, 2 in the box and one closer to the firewall on the outside. There's a couple clips to remove and of course the intake pipe hose clamp and AFM plug. I also had to remove the second battery to get access to the hose clamp holding the box to the snorkel.

There's some gains to be made removing that inner cone section where it drops in size I think but I didn't have the time, or a small enough cutting disc/multi tool/dremel to take care of it neatly. Given the airbox outlet is 4" I'm really surprised to see such a small opening in there. The concept is to give the water/debris something to collect on as it enters the airbox and is spun outwards and then collect in the trap, which is fine, but you'd think they would just make the iniital size larger so it could step down to 3" or something.

Others who have removed it, pics in the album from people who volunteered it, have not have any issues if they are runnign a snorkel. People without a snorkel have noted some debris in the bottom of the airbox whoch makes sense given the entry points via the inner guard.

Can't say I noticed a huge difference on my tootle to work, but I intentionally did not drive any different, there's a light induction noise and some of the numbers on the instant fuel read out while climbing "may" have been lower. Then I filled up with 130-140kg of fuel so the car instantly feels a touch slower after that. I am enjoying the overall improvement in throttle response and eagerness to get up to speed/drop gears.

We'll see if I get any better economy this tank, my hope is that with an intake it won't have to work "quite" as hard up hills/getting up to speed so will save a little there. Not expecteing any cruising advanatage, more so under power, as mentioned I drive in hilly terrain.

Still getting info about the powergate, those charts are 98 charts, but I want to see if that's a completely stock car on 98 vs a car with intake exhaust and a tune, or if it's just an intake and tune.

Airbox mod finished, forgot a pic but it looks almost identical to the one I used as a guide.

Important to give it a good clean after, I had fine bits of plastic everywhere and as they start out warm they like to stick a little.

                      See how it drives later.

Have put controller back on Dynamic as it was a little too peppy on sport around town with the completed airbox/filter mods. I drive fairly sedately so I don't like it to be too touchy.

As before, car is a bit more responsive and just generally eager to gain and maintain speed. Throttle controller + airbox/filter mods is a nice combo for not much $$. I never drive it at full throttle and have no performance figure times so cannot comment on that.

Raptor tells me those charts are without exhaust, which makes it very appealing. I'm just querying how much more the car may gain with exhaust and if if would needs a retune if an exhaust was added.

                            Happier days.

Car drives nice again, had ARB adjust preload in prep for winch. Seems they are completely new units, wasn't sure if they would do a full swap or rebuild the old ones. Had them turn rebound up a notch to stop it bouncing, seems to have helped.

Unboxed the winch, in its current config it wont work in the car as I mistakenly assumed the gearbox could be rotated like pretty much every other winch...

Current config would have clutch knob at the back way up under the grill which is no good, if I can at least rotate it 180degrees I might get away with it at the front if it stik out far enough to te side to clear the winch mounting points which I think it might, see what they say about rotating.

Its CAN be rotated. I have one mounted in my Prado. There is a video somewhere.. I'll see if I can find it.
