    Trip Summary "I'll be Back"
It was back to city view to deal with “unfinished business” and another great trip was had.
Morning revealed a fine and sunny day with almost no chance of rain this time. So instead of raincoats, sunscreen was the order of the day. I liked the fact that Shane was on the Bureau of Meteorology site early in the morning, just checking! All the water that had fallen over the last few weeks had be absorbed and the ground was dry.
Arriving at the CitiVew 4WD entry, it was obvious the rain had washed a fair amount of soil away and exposed a lot more rocks now, and we were soon to find this out was common right across the park. We had a great turnout of 11 vehicles for the day with some new faces , kids and many regular members all lined up at the park entry.

Steve mentioned the tracks were nice and dry but a few trees were down and a landslide on one of the top tracks. It was interesting to hear about the vehicles that were recovered a couple of weeks ago when the big storm hit. A 15 minute trip became 4 hours over those days in the mud.

We decided to go to the left side of the park, especially for the people that missed that last time, where we had a few of the muddy climbs and some of the bog holes. I also had unfinished business with a certain muddy hill from last time…
After that the plan was back to the right hand side and a run up the goat track for lunch at the top and the afternoon in the mid section.
    The latest track maps

We drove over to the left side via gate 1. And lined up all the Prados down in the creek camping ground . There are a couple of short climbs out of the creek bed and were totally impassable last time in the wet.

All of these now were dry and much more achievable, In particular last time even with lockers we weren’t getting up there with the slippery mud, this time is was sweet revenge and can report I got the Prado up to the top. Mother Nature does not forget and with that she reached out and grabbed my bumper and mudflaps and left me with a scar to remember….AJ I need that rear bar now....

Stewy taking the FJ up, these are capable units and he is so good at picking the right line.

Richo taking the 150 up, right at the end, he had his front left wheel point skyward about 3+ feet off the ground with the power from 200 killerwasps...

A couple of hill climb videos to come

      Fabes
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zz3sWJcFSQ

Then it was on to the little play area with mud pits, and places to test articulation. Many of the bog holes had
filled with water and mud but their bases were still firm so a fair few lined up for some mud action. Shane was
happy as a pig in mud…

Shane decided then on the deeper hole…

It was so deep Shane disappeared, so harry had to go in to find him….

Actually I thought Harry was walking the hole for his go but it turned out in all the excitement he dropped his digital camera into the bog hole…..And yes he did find it, we await to hear if it is working once again or not. The smell.....

A couple of videos of Fabes, Trevc and Richo playing in the mud.

        Time for some sliders shane…..

On the way back to the right hand side of the park, we spotted another fun climb which was a lot steeper than the photos looked

Richo punitng the 150 up there

Then it was back the right side of the park and for the climb to the top for lunch. The plan was a run up the goat track , Now I don’t want to say we took the wrong turn as there are no wrong turns when you exploring (that's my story and I am sticking to it) but we ended up on the "black level" link road, which had washed out and been left very rocky. Half way up the boys came to a stop and some impromptu track building was needed.
Shane was almost frothing at the mouth of the prospect of using his winch but with some rock movement and a shovel it looked ok. Sorry I don’t have any photos of this bit.
Hats off to Tiny here, being relatively new to 4wding, with soem coaching he did a great job piloting his 150 up the rocky climb. Well done mate. Everyone in the group took the hard path and made it up.

Some great views mid way up the mountain.

A view of some of the tracks further down.

After lunch it was down the goat track, which was now classed a black run. A lot of the soil had washed away leaving these large rock ledges. It was slow going as we were building up the track and picking lines over the rock drop-offs.

              Making our way down

We then ended up down in the mid section which was once again slow going. I almost slid the back end into a deep sandy trench as I could not really see the slope. The guys helped out with packing some rocks and Fozzy came to the rescue with 4 maxtraxs to be use as a thick plank to drive out of it. Stewy and Richo were a great help once again. Thanks guys . Sorry I have no photos of it as was driving and gettigng stuck......

After a break at the miners hut, we traversed the creek bed. I think Stewy has a link to the water flowing through the creek a couple of weeks ago next to where we were.
Eventually we all made it back down to the camp ground about 4.30pm and then back to the front road to air up , have a chat and say our goodbyes.

Thanks for everyone who turned up to make such a great day of it, very different from last time but just as fun in a different way. We all met some new friends and I think everybody had a good time and learnt something new. As we have recently done Mud and now Rock so the next one will be Sand…

              Cheers

Definitely keen for the sand one. Much more up my alley. I worry about following that logic though the next one will be snow and I'm picturing you guys tearing up the black diamond run at perisher.

Sand is not quite as good a top-dressing for the lawn as the mud that falls out when you clean up the car after one of these trips....more of a means to level any holes in the lawn

                  Cheers,

                  Dave

You got me thinking about water consumption though as it was hot, I counted up my empty water bottles and I went through exactly 6.3 ltires of water over the entire day!!!

The "Half a Prado" was a track busting machine all day but it has limits as there was an incident with it grounding on some rocks up and getting hung up the top but I have no photographic evidence,

That's because all the others have their compressors connected to the battery through the open bonnets.

Wish I had the weekend free.
