    • OK Stuart.

I think the HF tuner might be sitting a bit high...

        Hi Andrew,
With mine the top of the tuner is level with the top of my Pioneer Platform and the base sits about 1/3 of the way down from the top mounting bolts for the spare wheel carrier. I can take some measurements and photo's if it will help - just let me know.

        • Yep, way too high then. Looks like it needs to come down 200mm. Pipe bender anyone?

I've just been out to check and 200mm is about right based on your CAD drawings.

              • That looks GOLD!

I need to mount my UHF aerial back there. We do a bit of shooting out of our prado and you cant see a big grey UHF aerial through a rifle scope at night...There have been a few aerial casualties

                • Hi All,

The codan 9350 Aerial base is large / high we all know that, but the new codan 3040 is only 145 mm W x 165 mm D x 240 mm H (excludes spring and whip).

I trial fitted one to the Rear Tyre Spacer that a friend of mine made several years ago, and it fits perfectly.

I will try to get some pics when my Prado comes back from the installer of the HF.

                  • In that case, no pipe bender required then. But what about performance issues with shadowing from the roof and roof racks?

                      • Thank you rwo for spending the time in helping to test out the prototype light pole bracket for the 150. Great outcome considering that we are 1500km apart.

                          • Had a better look today about mounting the HF antenna. Due to the wiper on the 120, it is impossible to place the telescopic light pole on the left of the spacer. So if the HF bracket is mounted, the antenna will come out to the right of the tyre and there will not be room for any telescopic light pole. However, there might be a possibility of a fixed pole attached to the horizontal pole.

Different story for the 150 as the wiper comes down from the spoiler. So the telescopic light can be on the left and HF antenna on the right.

                              • I cna't get a hold of the 90 series owner so I'm going ahead with the light pole bracket for the 150. Probably order next week as I'll need to do it at the same time as the HF bracket prototype and another antenna/sandflag mtg bkt prototype I'm working on. I also have a full designed-from-scratch telescopic light pole which I'm trying to squeeze the price down and work out a minor detail. I'm heading off to the snow soon so I'll be testing out this new light pole. Hope to get pictures of this soon.
