Don't hear back from my local dealer (Patterson Cheney) so I went to another dealer (Berwick Toyota) to try with them and they booked me in on the 13th of April. Right into the month of manufacture of my car. Guess I'll have to wait and see

Should be for the whole lot of them. So some one like myself who has kept it garaged, under cover at work, dash mat since new, use a sunscreen where ever possible gets screwed over because we have done our best to look after it, compared to some one who hasn't garaged their car (maybe they don't have one) has never had a dash mat or sunscreen protector and is subjected to the elements 24/7 (not saying they don't look after it just don't have the cover some of us are lucky enough to have) so more then likely would crack earlier in their age then ones that's been protected so they probably have cracked before 10 years of age and they can claim a new one. If I don't get mine replaced Toyota can go fu## them selves and I'll never buy another Toyota. Not only that I will take it further as they have admitted to knowing it's an issue in all 120 series.

Yeh fell for ya MK. I have a customer who is the Warrantees Mgr for a major Brisbane Toyota dealer who I have been nibbling away at to get my 06/10 dash replace. I'm told that TMCA have really dug their heels in about the 10yr VIN identification range and will not waiver beyond that threshold..

30mins on the phone to Toyota and they basically told me they won't budge on the 10yr limit, and that there is no point appealing any decision.
Looking back, I don't know if I drew as much attention to the ACCC info as I could have or should have.
Feeling pretty defeated at the moment.
My only thought is to try another dealer who may actually give a sh*t and put up a fight for me.

Well after a second time of taking my Prado in, I had my claim rejected again. 'Sigh'
Though the person I dealt with was pleasant enough, when I asked about submitting an appeal, she just told me to call the Toyota Customer Experience number.
So guess what I'm going to do tomorrow... Going in armed with some ACCC lingo and reference to recent claims of 10+ vehicles being fixed.

I had my dash replaced yesterday by Llewellyn Motors in Ipswich who were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. When I took it in they knew all about the prado issue, they took photos of the dash and asked the odometer reading. When they were submitting the claim I asked that they make note of a previously claim for the dash back in 2012 when I was down in Newcastle and that it had been rejected. This may have helped with the approval as my car is a 2003 Grande, well over the 10 years. It took about a month but it was approved first time.

Well I was surprised that my email was met with a prompt phone call back from Craig at Kempsey Toyota. He has dealt with this before and explained that as the car is over the 10 year (by 4 months) he highly doubts that anything will be done. But he is willing to fight for me and I am taking the Prado up to him for a photo shoot of the dash and he will send it of to Toyota. Fingers crossed.

I have just sent an enquiry off to Kempsey Toyota, highly doubt that anything will come of it but it's worth a try..... mine was first rego'd 11/05. Pushing shite up hill probably.

Not on an 05 Grande. There is no way the evap would have come out without removing the dash. The air box needed to be removed completely and split in half to remove the evaporator.

I have also had the cracked dash problem, it seemed to appear from one day to the next Have owned the car since new 2007 model.
Pointed it out last time I had it serviced at Toyota and last week it was replaced under warranty even though it is many years out of warranty.
I thought since it was so far out of warranty that I had to live with it but the service place said they would look at getting it fixed and they did.
So hats off to Southside Toyota in Woolloongabba for being proactive in the repair

That's how mine started, randomly appeared one day and only noticed when wiping the dash. That was 3 years ago, recently started cracking out of the small fixed vent that points towards the wing mirrorsOriginally posted by RaggedJoe View PostKeep watching, even if you think yours is immune. Sold my 2005 120 v6 last month, after 10 years of ownership and thought it was un-cracked. But on cleaning for presentation to buyers found big crack right across the top above speedo. Showed buyer, he wasn't fazed by it. But I was surprised it suddenly cracked now after 10 years....

Good info! Do you have a link to the ACCC ruling?Originally posted by Marloo04 View PostCracked dash, Mmmm! Started the claim process last year and was initially knocked back as the vehicle was well and truly out of warranty.
I disputed the decision with both the dealership and Toyota siting safety concerns and made reference to the ACCC ruling on warranty claims that devalue the vehicle and affect safety.
And what do you know, less than 24 hours later I had a call from Beaudesert Toyota advising that the claim had been reviewed and that the dash would be replaced.
Don't give up, do your research and hold Toyota accountable for the defective part.

Mine is pretty bad too. Though my Prado is the KZJ120 2003, so i think it is way out of warranty. If that is not the case and i can talk to the Toyota representatives in my country, just let me know and i will give it a try.
i have another option. I can fix it in Santo Domingo for about 250 USD. The difficult part is just to remove the dash.
