You bewdy, got my Oct 05 Prado booked in for dash replacement in early April! Seriously, it just looks like they are running off VIN numbers. If yours falls within range, it is covered. That is what i was told. The first bloke i talked to said he wasn't sure, because it is just over ten years old, but the women behind him actually just had the paperwork in her hand and I saw it had the VIN number range listed down as they looked at it. Some photos were taken of my dash and then new dash ordered from Japan today. Takes a few weeks to get here apparently and they allow around 3 hours for the job. Stoked. Get into your local dealer and get it done!

I may as well take it in next time I'm in town and give it a try then, nothing to lose. It's out of the 10 year range but in the middle of the production range so a persistent attitude in a nice way of course might get me somewhere. Will post results when I find out.

Do they care if it is original owner or not? I bought a late 2004 GXL last week and it has plenty of cracks in it so would be great if I could get that done free!

Great news mate. Not such a massive job as you think, Toyo allow 2.4 hours for the replacement (and I have that in writing) although you could add another 4 hours or so for the tech to disconnect all the plugs and wires for all the doodads and bells and whistles I have added over the years..
If my claim's accepted, I'll do the tech a favour and sort all that out so I don't have to spend hours fixing the cluster f&*k they'll no doubt create

Sounds like I am in the same boat as you Adrian, likely to be within the VIN range but out of the 10 years.

Still worth pursuing if you ask me!

I'm taking mine in on tuesday this week for a warranty claim, after talking to the service manager on friday. I was in there collecting parts for work and in my work car not the Prado.
    So, I have seen a copy of the CSE from toyota on this issue and the criteria are;
No external damage or poor care of dashboard
Is within VIN range and within 10 years of age regardless of kms

Now the VIN range is interesting, my vehicle is within the VIN range stated but is over 10 years of age, and the production dates are oct 2002 to aug 2006 for that range - the document is dated Jan 2016 and the criteria seems to contradict each other, especially as there are examples on this forum of older than 10 years getting approved for warranty.

Btw also included in the document are Camry ACV40, Aurion GSV40 and Corolla ZRE152.

Maybe I should get the wife to take it in and flirt a little.. Or not..

    Cheers

    Great news Rusty.

What year is your Prado and how many kms does it have under its belt?

Still trying to push my claim with Toyota.

Hey guys, I went back to the dealership today that replaced my dashboard about 5 weeks ago to pick up a part ( no it wasn't another dashboard !! ) and asked if they'd had many 120 owners come in asking about warranty replacement on their dashboards and funnily enough they had, I was also told a few interesting things whilst there. Firstly the 10 year cut off is kind of right, however do what I did and don't take no for an answer, just be polite & persistent, it should get you across the line. Secondly I was also told that there will be no official recall, it's a word of mouth kind of thing amongst 120 owners. If your dealership is reluctant to help go direct. My claim was initially rejected but I sought an appeal, which was approved. Good luck I hope everyone gets the results they're chasing and I'd be interested in seeing the results.

    Cheers,

    Mike.

Starts on the passenger side near the vent and goes over the glovebox, over the radio, across the instrument panel and down the drivers side vent.
Always had a dash mat and been garaged.
    I'll keep on trying.

    Cheers

    Jim
