Has anyone got the fitting instructios for the wholesale transmissions lock up kit. If someone has this it might help

With regards to the 5 speed auto's on, I have been following another similar forum
regarding a 200 series auto, seems the 200 series use PWM to the torque converter
to control the torque converter lockup pressure, does anyone know if this applies to
the Prado auto's and if so what determines the required lockup pressure?
Also apparently the ECU in the 200 series monitors the torque converter lockup
pressure, and that the torque converter has locked to the lock command and also
monitors that the torque converter is not locked when it has not commanded it,
apparently it monitors the input shaft speed and torque converter speed to determine
if the torque converter is locked or unlocked, if it locks when it hasn't commanded it
the ECU throws a fault code, hopefully the later autos in the Prado's aren't the same?

The picture I have shows it all on the left side. Those junction connectors the ECT & ECU are also on the left. Have a looka t the diagram on the manual thatBlakMoth postedOriginally posted by MRW82 View Posthey mozz plugs IL3 and IL4 do they go back to the main ECU? because from the diagrams I have the solenoid wires come from the TCM (under steering wheel, next to diagnostics plug) and P/N lockout wires from the gear shifter indicator plug.
same colors as you have though.

That is a great link mate it's the genuine Toyota manual I use. It does take a bit to learn how to read it. For any Prado after 05 you have to click the Repair manual supplement or the Electrical wiring diagram supplement and then click on the 2005.08- that drops down under it this will give you the latest manuals. Once on the wiring diagram you'll see that the connector numbers will be on each component and pin numbers as well. At the top of the screen there is a tab for connector list click on that and change the selection to sort by number you can scroll through these and find the relative connector click on it and once you sellect RHD it will show you where it is located.Originally posted by BigFoot120 View PostThanks Mozz. That's very helpful. Mine is actually a 2003 V6 (1GR-FE). Your circuits are for a 1KD-FTV 2004 to 2008. My biggest problem is finding a wiring diag that shows the connection to the TCC solenoid for my model. I'm starting to wonder if it even has a TCC. I'll have to do a physical check on my ECT Solenoids pin 13 and 5 to see if there is anything there. I see you have discovered the solenoids are 5VDC. I think Jamie's circuit still uses 12V to the solenoid which may be a problem in the long term. BTW you posted page 2 to of your circuits twice and no page 3. No matter though. That would be a good idea mate. I'm sure some less technical minded people like myself would rather buy it off you than pay a much larger sum to a company

Mozz thanks for the great info, all taken on board and being discussed with the auto leckie.
One problem I see with your diagram is the relay that switches the red/yellow wire is backwards, it should earth the solenoid wire when activated, not the TCM wire. Other than that glad to see you came up with a very similar setup to me, fingers crossed it works.
From info I have gathered Wholesale automatics make a kit for the D4D 120 prado, To me their kits look very generic so I'd be surprised if they do it any differently to what has been discussed.

Hi All, I know that the lock up works on the 200 series auto box as I helped my nephew fit the kit from "Wholesale Automatic Transmissions". It was only a small box type thing with a few wires and a resistor/heatsink on it. He tows a big caravan and reckons its the bees knees. He hasn't had any probs with it since fitting. Cost is the downfall, approx $475 I think he paid for it. I priced one for my 2007 D4D Prado, same price.
I hope Mark can pull it off. Would be a great bit of gear for towing as Jamie has proved. I am looking forward to getting mine set up before we travel again, whether I have to buy one or construct one. I don't know what the "money controller" will think of it, as its always "you don't need it, its worked fine till now"!!!. OK nuff said Im off. Cheers Bill

Jamie. Is this info still available. The Rapidshare site on this link says "Contains no data. Edit this Share to add data."
Would like to try this setup on a 2003 Prado like yours. Sounds like it would be beneficial for towing.
Is this the same thing? http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/c...257D356165.png

Mmmmm, very interesting Mozz, likewise hope this can be overcome with MRW82 relay system of keeping it looking as though its all working normal.
A suck it and see if it works trial may have to be done heh??
I'm glad mine (early 120) wasn't this hard!!!

I had a look at the Toyota manual today and had a bit of a plan as to how this might work. But once I read the section relating to torque convertor lock up clutch fault codes where it states that if the TCM requests the convertor to lock up and it doesn't detetc it or it is not requested and it does lock up it will log a fault code and illuminate the MIL. It does this by monitoring the speed signal of turbine and input shafts. So basically I think this mod won't be possible on the 1KD Prado fitted with the A750F transmission. Once again like the EGR blocking they are too smart. I hope I'm proven wrong but I think that is how it is.
